Description

The renovation of the northeastern wing of the mansion as well as the roof play a fundamental role in this project. If it fails, the applicant will not be able to establish the monument as a residential arts centre as well as fulfill any other indicator tied to the project.  The reconstruction of the northeastern wing of the manor house will take approximately16 months, (March 2021 - June 2022) and will be carried out in the form of a thorough restoration of the original form of the building using the original techniques of building crafts and applying new complementary construction technologies so that the spirit of the manor is captured even with the aid of modern construction technology. The renovation of the manor house would re-establish it as a residential arts and culture centre, because it will hold exhibitions of local history by presenting local artefacts belonging to the city, the Franz Schubert museum as well as the Sacher and Romane Jile civic association.

Summary of project results

The project CLT01024 was focused on revival of the Esterhazy Mannor House in City of Želiezovce -  to preserve and restore the cultural heritage monument and to make it accessible to the general public benefits. The project included the renovation of the entire roof of the building, restoration of selected rooms in the northeast wing and the corridor for the purpose of the creation of the cultural centre for Želiezovce region. During the reconstruction work, the budget had to be increased by additional resources, as there were findings regarding problems with the statics of the building. After the reconstruction of the roof and the northeast wing, the reconstructed part of the Mannor House was open and became the premises for various activities and therefore accessible to the public and artists.

The main activity of the project was the reconstruction of the rooms and corridors of the northeast wing of the Mannor House in Želiezovce and the significant reconstruction of the roof of that building. Construction works were carried out by a supplier and as a part of the project activities, a local craftsman was also involved in reconstruction acitivity. In addition to the reconstruction works, various cultural events and activities were taking place all the time. A total of 15 cultural events and activities were held in which 3 project partners participated. The events did not only bring an artistic experience, but were also focused on the heritage of minorities, the fight against extremism, radicalization and hate speech through minority performances or lectures.

The promoter cooperated with the following partners within this project and they participated at the activities and project outputs:

1. NOPA - The Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists contributed to the project by participating in three project conferences.

2. Castellum Zeliz - Civic association

3. Basic organization of the Hungarian Social and Cultural Union in Slovakia - Csemadok Želiezovce.

The main activity of the project was the reconstruction of the rooms and corridors of the northeast wing of the manor house and the significant reconstruction of the roof of the building. Construction work was carried out by a transparently selected builder with many years of experience. As part of the project activities, a local craftsman was also involved in electrical installation work.

The participation of the Norwegian partner (NOPA) brought a deepening of bilateral artistic cooperation. Artists from Slovakia and Norway could exchange experiences and their own know-how. Within the framework of 15 events, these were visited by the public, pupils and the professional art community. The activities had a wider social impact on the public, as they were also aimed at fighting against extremism, racism and hate speech. The city proved to be a suitable place for this type of education, considering its national diversity (Slovak and Hungarian) and the presence of the Roma minority. In the reconstructed parts of the northeastern wing of the mansion, the city has established an artistic and cultural residential center, which will bring, in addition to space for artists, the development and promotion of culture. The impact of the project on the building of the manor brought a change from the need to finance the costs of its maintenance and preservation from the city''s own resources, as in the renovated state the city will be able to obtain revenues for the maintenance and development of the manor through rent and other income-generating activities.

Summary of bilateral results

The benefit from the partnership with NOPA (DPP) was mainly in the possibility of connecting the musical culture of two different countries through performances and in the possibility of establishing new relationships between artists.-The benefit from the partnership with NOPA (DPP) was mainly in the possibility of connecting the musical culture of two different countries through performances and in the possibility of establishing new relationships between artists. As there were 4 bilateral meetings of music or dance artists within the framework of artistic events, the project contributed to the acquisition of new ones and the strengthening and development of relations between music and dance artists from Slovakia and Norway. The cooperation will continue either within other projects or on the basis of the relationships that have been established between the artists or art institutions.
