Description

According to the Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and the Family, the registered unemployment rate in Slovakia increased in April 2020 at the highest rate in history. The aim of the project is to create opportunities in the field of education and employment and to provide social and career counselling. Another goal is to avoid the process of excluding marginalized individuals and to contribute to the development of a positive social perception of vulnerable people through their integration in social enterprise. The main activities of the project include job counseling, practical courses and trainings, activities for development and support of social enterprise. By investing in social enterprise, the sustainability of the project will be secured. At the end, the project should have impact on increase the Roma people acceptance at local level and to minimize the gap between Roma and Non-Roma. The project provides career guidance, focuses on upskilling and thus contributes to increasing the employability of disadvantaged people. The project is a continuation of the project implemented in the 1st call.

Summary of project results

The implementation of the project prevented the process of excluding individuals to the margins of society, contributed to development of a positive social perception of vulnerable persons through an integrative social enterprise, improved the social integration of Roma in the city of Banska Bystrica, created opportunities in the field of education and employment and provided social and career counseling. The target group consisted of 12 vulnerable persons who had multiple disadvantages, and therefore are among the most vulnerable group of the population, which is at risk of social exclusion and poverty. People who were in difficult life situations were selected for the project, e.g. were released from serving their sentence or persons who did not have their own housing, etc. In most cases, these were unemployed people who had no work experience and their education was only basic. The following activities were successfully implemented within the project: 1. Increasing the qualifications of vulnerable persons - electric arc welding course, operation of manual chainsaws and operation of brush cutters and trimmers. 2. Motivation and activation of vulnerable persons - trainings in preparation for entering the labor market. 3. Inclusion of vulnerable persons in the work process with the aim of renewing, adopting, maintaining and developing work habits. 4. Social and career counselling. 5. Development of a social enterprise.
