Description

The civic association Otvor dvor created a co-working space in KC Kláštor in 2019 as part of a supported project in the first call of the ACF program and began networking third sector entities in Rožňava and the Gemer region. Within the project Participatory Budget for Rožňava, they identified as a problem a low level of knowledge and skills of participants in the creation and processing of visual material and a minimum opportunity to provide this service externally.

The project aims to create a space for further long-term and continuous activities in the existing co-working centre, which thanks to accommodation capacities will enable the implementation of projects with the participation of partners from more distant parts of the region and effectively use the networking opportunities. The multimedia studio will provide a necessary service for co-working users at the level of creating and processing video and graphic materials to improve communication with the public and thus the promotion of their activities.

The project is divided into several phases: In the first, the multimedia studio and accommodation capacities will be reconstructed and furnished, while they will use donated furniture, which is in line with the concept of not increasing environmental impact. In the second phase, a series of training events will take place led by a Norwegian partner and a Slovak media agency. In the third phase, they will connect the functional multimedia studio with the existing co-working space.

The first partner, Norsensus Mediaforum, will be a mentor/expert guarantor of the preparation, implementation and sustainability of the Multimedia Studio in the project.

The re-cooperation with the other partner, Bjerkaker Learning Lab, consists mainly in the extension of joint activities and further development of the co-working centre.

The project will be beneficial for the active citizens of Rožňava and the Gemer region, students, children, NGOs and tenants of the centre.

Summary of project results

The project managed to reconstruct accommodation units for the needs of co-working in the cultural center and to reconstruct and equip the Multimedia Studio, as well as to train a team of collaborators who started working on several projects in this Multimedia Studio. Despite the constraints associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, reconstruction of the accommodation premises has progressed over the course of the project. The pandemic situation led to a prolongation of the reconstruction work, but in the end the organization managed to successfully complete this part of the project.

During the project, a total of 4 workshops held by uuu, s.r.o. They were professional training for the team Dvor Dvor. The aim was to train the Hole Court team to work with technology purchased for the Multimedia Studio (how to work with technology, proper shooting, work with specialized video editing software, etc.). The project managed to organize 2 larger events, one offline and one online conference. The first event included educational and networking activities, thematically dedicated to strategic communication through storytelling and design thinking, as well as the topic of co-working as an educational space. At the same time, discussions with representatives of Slovak co-workers operating in the regions were included in the conference program, and a space was created for sharing experiences and networking. It also included a workshop on improving strategic communication skills led by Norwegian partners.

During the summer conference and workshop, the organization focused on storytelling in strategic communication and co-working as a space for learning. In the online seminar, they focused on design thinking and how design thinking can help better communicate socially beneficial values. During the seminar, participants were able to try out the tool used in advocacy campaigns. Another topic was motivation as the driving force behind the organization''s activities. This online seminar was held in English (while the first conference was in English and Slovak). Thanks to this project, we managed to build accommodation capacities that will serve in the long run to improve networking and deepen cooperation with our partners (in the field of education and culture). The Multimedia Studio will also provide long-term services, especially for third-sector players in the region.

Summary of bilateral results

The civic association Hole Dvor cooperated with two partners within the project, Norsensus Mediaforum and Bjerkaker Learning Lab. Cooperation with partners consisted mainly in the field of mentoring and training. Together they organized two major events, one offline conference and one online conference at the end of the project. The first, offline conference was held at the Kláštor Cultural Center in the summer of 2021 with the participation of representatives of both partners (Mr. Vedat Sevincer for Norsensus Mediaforum, Mr. Sturla Bjerkaker of the Bkerkaker Learning Lab). The second major event in the project was an online seminar (autumn 2021), which was a continuation of an educational series with Norwegian lecturers Vedat Sevincer and Sturl Bjerkaker. During the summer conference and workshop, the partners focused on storytelling training in strategic communication and co-working as a space for learning. In the online seminar, they focused on design thinking, how it can help organizations better communicate company-beneficial values. During the seminar, participants were able to try out the tool used in advocacy campaigns. Another topic was motivation, as a driving force for civic activities. This online seminar was conducted in English. Cooperation with partners has significantly helped the organization Dvor Dvor to orientate itself in the issue of co-working and its effective functioning and current trends. Together, they set up processes that will lead to a more efficient functioning of co-working in Rožňava. Cooperation with both partners does not end, the plan is to cooperate in other joint projects as well.
