Description
The project is focused on changing the atmosphere in school system and eliminating mobbing. If innovation in education is to be successful, it is first necessary to change the culture of schools, eliminate mobbing, and introduce the principles of democracy, participation and inclusion in the environment and school management. The Chamber has extensive experience in advocacy, cooperation, media and the legislative process. In the presented project, it wants to implement action research and campaigns to collect fear and democracy in schools, prepare proposals for amendments to laws, education, methodologies and model documents aimed at democratic culture in schools. The project takes a targeted and systematic approach to the issue of Slovak education and creates a foothold for the change of the school system from below. The outputs of the project will media and advocacy campaign, sample documents for school administration, accredited school programmes, legislation changes.
Summary of project results
The project promoter of this project, the Chamber of teachers in Slovakia, is appreciated partner of government authorities and, in sector of education, an expert with deep knowledge. The project aimed to improve the environment of being employed as a teacher in accordance to principles of democracy, participation and inclusion and improve the educational system as a whole.
The project promoter have made in this project numerous activities. The project promoter consider two of them the most significant. First, the project promoter have organised a large number of educational presentations in 7 topics, later enlarged on 3 more topics, that have been held online due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions. Originaly, the education was planned as a presentations in-person but it turned out that the online educations have interested broad range of participants and it has brought unexpected success in the large number of participants. The online presentation helped the public promoter in reaching teachers all over Slovakia. Second, the project promoter have submitted 9 school administration document samples that reflect desired principles of democracy and participation in the relationship between schools and teacher and the project promoter expects avoiding frequent inssues in administration.
Among the large number of activities made throughout this project the project promoter during the project lifetime has cooperated in advocating with other expert oraganisations, Ministry of education and on meetings of European commission. The public promoter has conducted its own research, results were presented in media, followed by social media campaign. Based on this research the project promoter will continue in advocating better conditions in education on national level and will have a long-term impact. During the project the project promoter has submitted about 150 legislative comments and has contributed to numerous Legal Acts changes related to this project which are forming the national education system.
