Description
Eating disorders are often misunderstood. At Mea vita – the Institute for Research and Psychotherapy we offer professional help to people suffering from eating disorders and their loved ones in a compassionate and understanding way, while also raising general public awareness about eating disorders. We try to do this in the most understandable and plastic way possible.
Our project involves developing an innovative therapeutic tool: an audio-video simulation of the feelings and behaviors of a person with anorexia, including special effects to help people experience their feelings. Using this tool, their loved ones, as well as professionals, will be able to experience the feelings of people with anorexia. In this way, they will develop more empathy and understanding towards people with anorexia.
The tool will first be presented to experts, and then to the general public with an online campaign. Experts and people with an experience of eating disorders aged between 18 and 29 will be involved in designing the device.
