Description
The general objective of the project is to provide outreach health services in order to improve prevention for the vulnerable population, including Roma, from Fratesti commune, Giurgiu county, by purchasing and equipping a B2 type ambulance and ensuring access to medical care for a target group of 245 people, during the implementation period of project.
The specific objectives are the following:
Specific objective #1: Acquisition and equipment of a B2 ambulance.
Specific Objective #2: Organization of training events and services for the target group, in the areas targeted by the project, to raise their awareness on health issues.
Specific Objective #3: Improving the access to medical care ( in the field of child health, prevention of the infectious disease Covid-19, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases) for the targeted group, for a period of at least 7 months, during the implementation of the project.
Summary of project results
At the level of Giurgiu county, the most important institutions and health units are located in Giurgiu municipality. In the entire medical system in Giurgiu county, there is also a systemic blockage, in the sense that the County Emergency Hospital is the only health unit in the county that can ensure the management multidisciplinary medical, of cases of great complexity.
According to the County Ambulance Service, in 2016, the number of interventions was 34,345, in the first 5 months of 2017, the number of interventions was 14,070, in 9 months of 2018, 29,226 interventions were carried out, and in 9 months of 2019, 30,025 interventions were carried out. Also taking into account the average monthly number of interventions, which in 2016-2017 was below 2,900 monthly interventions, in the last two years their average value was approximately 3,300. Thus, an increase in the number of annual interventions was outlined, a fact that required the increase of intervention capacity, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Also, Giurgiu County is a county with a high degree of poverty and the first place in terms of illiteracy.
Practically, the project aimed to improve the health of the population of Fratesti commune, Giurgiu county, through prevention actions, awareness and education of the population, the provision of outreach health services in order to improve prevention for the vulnerable population, including Roma, through the acquisition and provision of a B2 type ambulance and ensuring access to medical assistance during the implementation period of the project for a target group of 245 people, respectively the reduction of inequalities in terms of access to medical screening services, the organization of events and materials for health promotion in order to sensitize vulnerable groups in terms of both a healthy lifestyle and living conditions.
Project results were obtained, in addition to project management - A1, through the following activities:
A2- Information and advertising. The online version - the announcement of the start of the project and the announcement of its completion - were published in the newspaper Curierul National. The banner, installed at the Red Cross headquarters-Giurgiu branch, and stickers for the ambulance and the purchased equipment, the Facebook page were made.
A3 - Organizing events and materials to sensitize target groups on health issues. The promotion campaign was carried out by distributing leaflets, displaying banners, playing video material at different locations in Fratesti commune, respectively at the town hall headquarters, the medical dispensary, the secondary school in the village of Fratesti and the village of Remus, the kindergarten in the village of Fratesti. The citizens were interested and satisfied with the initiative of the 2 partners and requested information regarding the conduct of the consultations.
A4 - Investments in health infrastructure for the provision of mobile health outreach services. An ambulance, equipment, consumables and disinfectant were purchased for the provision of outreach mobile health services in Fratesti commune.
A5 - Provision of outreach mobile health services. 246 people, of which 123 are Roma, have benefited from outreach mobile health services, with a patient file completed with the services received: measuring temperature, weight, height, blood sugar, blood pressure, covid test.
The results of this project contribute to the achievement of outcome 2.5, namely the number of vulnerable people who have benefited from medical services and was obtained by combining Activities A5 - . The provision of outreach mobile health services was for 246 people, of which 123 were Roma
