Description

The Municipality of Moreni, is a recently intensely industrialized city urgently needing strategy to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The main challenge for Moreni is to continue its developing, leaving behind the oil industry and going to a green, friendly environment, through development of projects for renewable energy production  (solar, wind, geothermal), development of industrial sectors based on the circular economy, transport optimization etc.

The project general objective is reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the climate change adaptation for Moreni. Specific project objectives are: 1.Development of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan for Moreni for the period 2022-2030 and evaluation of opportunity to join the Global Covenant of Mayors; 2.Increasing the capacity of the local authority to develop and implement climate-responsible public policies; 3.Increasing the degree of information and awareness of the citizens of Moreni regarding the mitigation and adaptation measures to climate change.

Main project activities and results refers to: 1.Project management; 2.The development of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan; 3.Training for representatives of local public administration and public services (2 training sessions of 3 days, 40 persons); 4.Realization of the climate risk matrix for Moreni municipality; 5.Public consultations on the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan and the Climate Risk Matrix (4 public consultation sessions, approx. 100 people); 6.Awareness campaign on climate change (1 press release, 2 elaborate panels, a website, 1 video spot - 5000 spot views; 1 Climate Day Contest; 1000 informed people); 7. Project Final conference; 8.Elaboration of a feasibility study “Green corridor development, Cricov brook”; 9.Signing the commitment for the Covenant of Mayors.
