Description

Specifically, this project propose interventions on 3 SST, marked separately but located in the same area, creating a compact area of landfills occupying a total area of 3.04 ha, with a storage capacity of 100450 mc and reaching a height of about 8 m. The land on which the 3 SST are located, is in the public domain of the Botosani Municipality of Botosani. The 3 SST for household waste entered into service in 2012 and ceasing their activity in September 2016. Since taking over the 3 SST from the sanitation operator SC Urban Serv SA (by HCL no. 281/18.09.2020), UAT Botosani Municipality tried to identify solutions for their permanent closure. The specific objectives of the project are: 1.Determination of the impact of the closure of 3 temporary municipal landfills on the environment in 20 months of project implementation; 2. Planning and implementation of the plan of measures to close the 3 temporary municipal landfills (development of the works - excavations and fillings in the body of the warehouse; re-retention and compaction of the waste; installation of the leachate collection system; application of the final closure layers; storm-water collection works; the storage gas collection system; perimetral fencing and access gate; the construction of the building elements necessary for the monitoring of the warehouse in the post-closure period; integration works in the landscape) 3. Promoting the pilot intervention carried out with the support of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, during the 20 months of implementation of the project. This will improve the quality of the environment as well as the quality of life of the citizens of Botoşani. The project is considered a pilot one, since its implementation, as proposed in the project, may generate a model of best practice, which might be multiplied by several other territorial administrative units in the country.
