Description

The project contributes through its general objective to the sustainable development of Alba Iulia by increasing renewable energy production from other Renewable Energy Sources (photovoltaic power plants) in 5 public buildings administered by the Municipality and a plot of land. The project will design, develop and implement local renewable energy sources to significantly increase energy efficiency and performance and reduce GHG emissions.  The project''s general and specific objectives will increase Alba Iulia''s level of energy independence by obtaining energy from renewable sources. The project will also contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy in total primary energy consumption as a result of the investments proposed by the project to increase the installed power of producing electricity from less exploited renewable sources and to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere by replacing part of the amount of fossil fuels consumed each year (natural gas).

Summary of project results

The project''s objective was to increase the production of renewable energy in the Alba Iulia.

Following the implementation of the project, photovoltaic panels were installed on 6 municipal buildings and a plot of land.

The municipality reduced its dependence on conventional fuels and made a positive impact on the environment.
