Description

The project aims to implement a photovoltaic system in order to ensure electricity from renewable resources for the production process.
The project will reduce dependency on the fluctuating energy prices in Romania. Considering the recent developments in the Romanian energy market, especially the market liberalization, the prices are highly unpredictable and growing at extremely paced rates. The market experiences increased fluctuation. The project aims to contribute to the company''s decarbonization, a process that started in 2019. At that point, the company had identified an opportunity in the market, namely the need of low carbon footprint packaging, for which there is a rapidly growing market, and first mover advantage is of paramount importance. Key activities of the project include:

  • Financial audit by an external consultant.
  • Investment activity related to the photovoltaic system.
  • Partner activities.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

The expected outcomes are to achieve an estimated annual CO2 emission reduction of about 341,053 tonnes of CO2 eq./year. and produce energy from other renewable sources of 1,141 MWh/year.

The partner, Norsk Energi, is a leading expert in the fields of energy, environment and safety. They are engaged in a range of projects focusing on energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reductions and assist both Norwegian and international partners with solution design, assessment, engineering, technology development and training. Norsk Energi was founded in 1916 under the name “Norwegian Steam Boiler Association”. The partner will offer all the needed know how and experience with industrial companies in assisting their transition to green energy.

Summary of project results

To ensure a competitive edge in the market, the Applicant has recognized fresh avenues for enhancing their competitive position, focusing on product offerings and cost-effectiveness. This project''s goal is to substitute 19% of its current fossil-based energy consumption with green energy sourced from renewable resources.

Summary of bilateral results

The partner provided all the necessary know-how and experience with industrial companies to assist in their transition to green energy. The partner''s experience added significant value to the project through knowledge transfer, maximizing the use of the installed photovoltaic system. It''s important to note that the Partner did not make a financial contribution to the project, as the majority of the costs were related to equipment investments. The partner also contributed to various activities, including the exchange of knowledge and experience between partners through seminars and materials preparation, project design such as the calculation of solar power models and selection of optimal capacity, monitoring and control of Solar PV Installations, and assessment of the newly built installation through site visits and reporting.
