Description

The main objective of the project is development of a photovoltaic system in order to assure electricity from renewable resources for Association Caritas Alba Iulia - Medical and Social Assistance, the nursing homes and health care services of Caritas in Odorheiu Secuiesc and to reduce its CO2 emissions. The applicant aims to reduce its dependence of conventional energy as well as to optimize its expenses.

The photovoltaic panels are planned to be mounted near the transformer tower in the organisations courtyard on a metal structure. Key activities include:

  • Delivery of equipment and installations of the PV system.
  • Internal project management.
  • Financial audit.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

Expected outcomes of the project include an estimated annual CO2 emission reduction of 12 tonnes of CO2 eq./year. The energy produced from other renewable sources is estimated to be around 88 MWh/year. The installed capacity for production of electricity from the panels will be 0,08 MW. The project will require one employee to require a specific training. The project will also Increase the standard of living for disabled people including children and elderly, as Association Caritas Alba Iulia - Medical and Social Assistance represents a social assistance institution accredited by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection as a social services provider for elderly and disabled people.

The project will be implemented in partnership with International Development Norway (IDN). The project partner will be involved in the activities related to installation and procurement of the photovoltaic system, as it can provide valuable expertise in drafting the procurement procedures, selection of the providers and best technical solutions for our project. They will monitor the implementation of the system and equipment installation, review potential risk for the implementation of the system, verify together quality of the works and installations.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation with the Norvegian partner began in November 2022. All technical details of the proposed investment were shared with the partner. IDN Norway provided technical expertise, monitored the implementation. IDN Norway also prepared a technical report on the latest technology used in the photovoltaic segment, efficient use of the proposed PV system, cost evaluation, technical details of the PV system, installed in Odorheiu Secuiesc.
