Reduce the company''s environmental impact by implementing a green and innovative solar panels solution

Project facts

Project promoter:
SC EMSIL TECHTRANS SRL(RO)
Project Number:
RO-ENERGY-0092
Status:
Completed
Initial project cost:
€477,600
Final project cost:
€776,938

Description

The main objective of the project is implementation of two photovoltaic systems, placed on the roofs of SC EMSIL TECHTRANS SRL units from Oradea and Cluj, with a total installed capacity of a 0,981 MWp, in order to assure electricity from renewable sources for the production processes and to reduce CO2 emissions. The project will also increase the security of energy supply, as one of the main challenges of the company is the high dependency on the conventional sources, including the electricity purchased from the national grid, which represents a high cost for the company.

The produced electricity will be injected into the consumer''s facility, where the distribution panels allow the safe evacuation of the produced energy. Each photovoltaic plant will be connected to the grid by the inverter, which is accompanied by a meter that measures the produced energy versus the energy that is taken-in from the grid. The annual electricity consumption was 819 MWh/year at the Oradea plant and 1.030 MWh/year at the Cluj-Napoca plant (in period March 2021- February 2022). The proposed two photovoltaic systems will contribute to decreasing the dependency on conventional  sources by locally producing green energy which will be used for own consumption. The implementation of renewable energy will allow the company to decrease its annual CO2 emissions with 300 tonnes of CO2 eq. per year.

Key activities include:

  • Delivery and set-up of the systems.
  • Internal project management.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

The project implementation will contribute to the long-term operations and development of the company by reducing the energy costs and creating energy independence, so the company will have a reliable electricity supply.

Summary of project results

Main challenges: need to transition to greener production and too high dependency on conventional energy sources; security of energy supply; high energy costs for the company.

Two photovoltaic systems were installed on the roofs of SC EMSIL TECHTRANS SRL units from Oradea and Cluj, with a total installed capacity of a 0,981 MWp, in order to assure electricity from renewable sources for the production processes and to reduce CO2 emissions.

The proposed two photovoltaic systems will contribute in the next years to decreasing the dependency on conventional  sources by locally producing green energy which will be used for own consumption. The expected energy production by the two photovoltaic systems is of 980 MWh/year and will allow the company to decrease its annual CO2 emissions with 300 tonnes of CO2 eq. per year.

The project implementation also contributes to the long-term operations and development of the company by reducing the energy costs and by creating energy security and independence.
