Description

The main objective of the project is to construct a new Small Scale Hydro Power Plant (SSHPP) with a total installed capacity of 0,12 MW in Prahova County, within the city of Busteni. The main activities to be implemented consist in the construction of a new small scale hydro power plant and the acquisition of three micro hydro power plant turbines.

The project is needed in order to contribute to the protection of the environment by reducing pollutant emissions such as: carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides as well as significant amounts of smoke and dust, resulted in the production of energy by creating a new micro hydropower plant that will deliver an amount of 674 MWh/year in the National Energy System and increase the company competitiveness in the marketplace.

The expected outcome of the projects is increased renewable energy production and the expected outputs are increased hydropower installed capacity and increased number of new installations for production of hydropower electricity. The project is also contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and increased security of supply. CO2 is estimated to reduce annually by 205 tonnes.

The project will be implemented in partnership with the Norwegian company Minihydro Norge As. Minihydro Norge AS is a Norwegian company supplying electromechanical equipment to small and medium sized hydropower plants. The company has already supplied equipment to more than 20 hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of more than 60MW. Given the technical expertise of the company, the partner will be actively involved in the project implementation and will have a very important role in the selection of the equipment for the new hydropower plant, supervision of the construction works and installations, review any risks, test the equipment and the IoT software that will be installed.
