Description
BBU represents an emblem of success in Romanian Education, being the oldest, the largest and the most prestigious university in the country.
If we are doing a SWOT analyse of the cooperation with universities from Norway at this moment we can have the following conclusions:
Opportunities:
• high demand from students and academics for outgoing mobilities for Norway
• the Erasmus program can offer mobilities
• the possibility to extend more the cooperation’s
• the possibility to motivate incoming mobilities from Norway
• the possibility to offer more inclusions for Roma and disadvantaged
Strength:
• long term cooperation with universities from Norway
• other projects financed by Erasmus and EEA grants in implementation
• a continuous exchange of students in the last 10 years
Weakness:
• a low number of Roma students enrolled at BBU
• high bureaucracy for incoming mobilities comparing to Erasmus program
Threats
• restriction and decrease demand due to COVID pandemic
Developing joint activities with universities from Norway is complicated taking into consideration the difference of the cost of living. Without EEA grants the mobilities are decreasing considerably, the extra financial support that they offer creates the possibility for the beneficiaries to manage better the living expenses in the partner country.
There are difficulties in attracting students from Norway to Romania, however with this type of projects we can attract more incoming students. In this moment they are more comfortable with short joint activities.
Besides the target group, the project has an impact to the universities levels, we expect to have an impact also into the society by increasing the number of academic projects and exchanges that already exist.
The project is targeting national and international priorities as the increasing number of mobilities, increasing the quality of academic offer, increasing digitalisation are key elements to future higher education.
