Description

Educational institutes have multiple roles, one of them may be identified as shaping the future of labour force, but an outstanding issue is how to assure constantly the readiness of the graduate students to enter the labour market with up-to-date knowledge. That for the information regarding the actual industrial trends are necessary to be provided for the students, because they are the future employees, who will work with and within the advanced technologies. Any technological advancement is influencing the performance of organizations in a positive way, which therefore affects the employees’ productivity and performance, but it is true in the opposite way also. The Industry 4.0 paradigm has a key role in the productivity and competitiveness of the SME’s around the world, and it must be applied in our region too. The intelligent manufacturing (also known as smart manufacturing) is a broad concept of manufacturing with the purpose of optimizing production and product transactions by making full use of advanced information and manufacturing technologies. The University Sapientia of Cluj-Napoca, wants to be not only a key role player for labour force supply, but also a solid partner in the innovative thinking. Therefore, for our MSc students it is mandatory to well understand the intelligent manufacturing process. Through this mobility project, the Department of Mechanical Engineering from the applicant HEI, will acquire from his DS Partner (UiT The Arctic University of Norway) know-how, with which he will assure a short term, as well a long term development to fulfil the stated mission. The short-term benefits will be through the student mobility, so students will obtain a guided practical experience in the labs of the DS Partner in the form of traineeships. Parallel to this action, the mobility of the teaching and administrative staff to and from DS will assure the know-how transfer for the long term development needed for sustainability of the post project period.

Summary of project results

Educational institutes have multiple roles, one of them may be identified as shaping the future of labour force. The information regarding the actual industrial trends are necessary to be provided for the students, and with the help of this project the above goal is implemented at the partner institutes.
This project was preceded by a preparatory visit in November of 2018 of Prof. FORGÓ Zoltán (Sapientia University, Romania) at the UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Campus Narvik, and another mobility project with contract no. 18-MOB-0034. After the actual project was awarded, the budget was reallocated based on approved grant. In this case the project consists of 3 outgoing STT staff mobility and 3 incoming STT staff mobilities. The outgoing mobilities were awarded to three employees of the Universitatea Sapientia din Cluj-Napoca:
- Associate prof. FORGÓ Zoltán (head of the Mechanical Engineering Department), with mobility period of 03.05.2022-06.05.2022 - During the visit, in front of colleagues and MSc students, he held a comprehensive presentation regarding the academic and research possibilities and achievements at the Mechanical Engineering Department, as well during a lecture presented the research results of the Department in the terms of Simulation of mechanisms and robots. During the mobility, the preparation for the future outgoing mobilities was also undertaken.
- Associate prof. DOMOKOS József (dean of Faculty of Technical and Human Sciences, member of Electrical Engineering Department), with mobility period of 16.01.2023-19.01.2023 – During the visit, our Dean presented the sending Faculty from administration and research point of view. The lecture held by prof. Domokos was with the topic of Introduction to information technology, and was held for the MSc students of the host institute. With his presence at the Donor Partner was possible to strengthen the relation on faculty level.
- Assistant prof. Fehér Áron (Electrical Engineering Department), with mobility period of 16.01.2023-19.01.2023. – During his visit, a practical lecture was realized in the laboratory of the host department, involving MSc and PhD students as well. The topic of the activity was the use of the Universal Robot system in term of programming, connectivity and use case. Based on this lecture the Department of Industrial Engineering colleagues are able to use the robot system in the education and research.

3 outgoing staff mobiities took place.

During the mobility periods there was an excellent possibility to get insight view to the academic life and research at the partner institutes. There were layed the basis of other cooperations involving common laboratory equipment use through linking them over the Internet, and use the modern Digital Twin technology. During the mobilities the knowhow, but practical skills were developed as well.
During the project period (outside the mobilities) several online meetings were organized to prepare planes for a future ERASMUS+ KA2 project involving the Centria University of Applied Sciences (Finnland) with topic of Industry4.0. Two colleagues (Dr. Sakari Pieskä and Dr. Tomi Pitkäaho) from that institute were invited to join those online meetings. The future project topic is in tight connection with our Faculty and Department strategies at the Universitatea Sapientia din Cluj-Napoca.

Summary of bilateral results

On the academic staff level, the mobility was a great possibility (for both of partners) to experience on first hand the other institute. The incoming mobility of our partner was appropriate to meet not only the academic staff and their work at the Sapientia University, but we made possible through the dissemination event of the 21-COP-0027 project, that the incoming colleagues could meet several SMEs, partners of the PP institute. During the mobility we had the possibility to think about the further cooperation, and prepare the future student and academic staff mobilities of the ongoing 22-MOB-0027 project. Based on the presentations during the outgoing mobility for staff and having dialogues with colleagues from the partner institute, joint research and development directions raised, and actions were taken to define concrete topics.Having the community of the UiT The Arctic University of Norway as project partner, gives us a great possibility to gain insight in the academic life of the Northen society, and to have best practices not only in the academic level, but in the research and cooperation with SMEs as well.
