Description
Many studies show that Romanian students are not happy and motivated at school. School counsellors can be agents of change in schools, to facilitate well-being in education, by promoting classroom-based game play activities and by supporting the development of the enthusiastic teachers'' teams. The project will adapt the information received in the transnational learning mobility at all school levels of education.
Project objectives:
- developing a team of CMBRAEs specialists, to promote teaching through games in order to increase the well-being of students and the inclusion of all children, with different interests, aptitudes, difficulties and traits.
-creating an educational programme for schools aimed at promoting teaching using games, in order to increase inclusion and well-being in schools at pre-primary, primary, secondary and high school levels.
-the implementation of the programme in 8 pilot schools;
-organizing 6 dissemination workshops for CMBRAEs school counsellors;
- Development of a Project website;
- Creating a 160-pages e-book on pupils'' well-being in school - published on the project website.
The project''s website will host learning resources that could be used by any teacher, over 200 CMBRAE counsellors will participate in dissemination workshops and developing competence training. 48 school teachers will benefit from 2-hour workshops about school inclusion and well-being, using games in teaching (from pre-primary, primary, gymnasium and lyceum) and will be able to use the activities/competencies in other classes as well.
Summary of project results
The project responded to the need to contribute to an organizational culture in which every school in Bucharest wants and is motivated to become an inclusive and well-being school. The key person in the project is the school counsellor, the person who transforms, the person who facilitates, the person who trains trust, communication, respect and teamwork, in order to facilitate the well-being in schools, from an inclusive perspective.
To achieve the project objective of increasing the well-being of students in school, 9 counsellors from the Bucharest Municipality Center for Educational Resources and Assistance (CMBRAE) selected and participated in transnational mobilities in Norway and Iceland. During the mobilities, the counsellors learned how to be more resilient and how to create well-being in schools for parents, for teachers and students. They exercised how to facilitate the joy of learning in the school environment, practicing teaching through play and wellbeing, inclusion, and positive communication with the child. Both mobilities were much appreciated by the participants who described them as very relevant for their needs and the needs of their institution, having a practical character, very good quality of content and activities, significant potential for innovation and transfer in their current activity.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the skills developed through mobilities were capitalised in various subsequent school activities inside the project and outside it to bring more balance and well-being.
The learning outcomes correspond to those estimated in the application form and have been validated by certificates of participation and Europass mobility documents.
Upon returning from their mobility, the counsellors created an educational program to increase the well-being of students together with teams of teachers-parents. It was applied in 21 educational units from Bucharest: over 1750 students benefited from well-being teaching activities, 70 teachers from play-based teaching workshops, over 450 parents benefited from positive communication workshops to create child well-being at home, over 200 school counsellors benefited from workshops on well-being in education and over 370 teachers received information about the project within the teachers'' councils. The educational materials created within the project: "Well-being in School - Guide for the Promotion of Well-being in the School Environment", "Teacher''s Well-being Guide", "Teachers and Students Well-being - Resources and Practical Ideas", etc. were posted on the project website to be available for schools outside Bucharest, interested in improving their environment. The very good quality of the methodological guide (e-book) is a factor for ensuring the project impact and sustainability, jointly with the other accessible resources posted on the project website.
The cooperation with the two training institutions was very good, therefore the project promoter intends to continue attending other courses provided by the course providers from Norway and Iceland.
The results of the project from the institutional perspective are well presented (expertise in the targeted thematic areas, in project management, institutional visibility and new opportunities for action). The institutional approach is also described from the perspective of the pilot schools.
Relevant, varied and rich dissemination activities have been carried out that meet and exceed the original plan. Thus, the project enjoys very good visibility.
