Description

The project is addressing the bullying as a general element of the organizational culture of the schools. Most Romanian schools indulge an aggressive way of communicating among students, between students and teachers and in families of students. Violent behaviors and communication are not addressed by the  school and local community, bullying between students is very often ignored; also teachers have a general aggressive way of communicating to students from a superior position, “talking down” to them and not taking the role of partners in education. Parents are still using traditional sayings, like: Beating is part of heaven; Where the mother hits, things grows up; I gave birth to you, I will kill you - etc. AIM of the project will be to promote and set an organizational culture of schools based on acting as community development agents and on assertive confronting with bullying situations. Specific objectives of the project:To develop competences for 9 school counselors and specialists on building cross-disciplinary curricula and outdoor learning; To involve 9 schools in running institutional and community change processes; To create a critical mass of students and teachers (80 students and 30 teachers, parents and leaders) involved as a resource for education, bullying prevention and community development. To generate awareness for members and 9 communities and neighborhoods (300 members) to the risks of an education based on aggressivity and violence.  Project activities: Mobilities:  Norway-6 mobilities; Iceland-3 mobilities.   Dissemination plan and local activities: Workshop for teachers (they will learn to design and plan outdoor educational activities); Community activities-each school will run a project based on theatre forum, photo-voice, flashmob etc.; Local exhibitions and (re)presentations; Seminar on setting organizational culture rules for schools; Guide of best practices – community involvement of bullying prevention.

Summary of project results

  • The project addressed the priorities and objectives of the Program and of the school education area; it also addressed the institutional needs, approaching a sensitive, often ignored topic: bullying.
  • The project achieved its objectives and supported the awareness of the bullying phenomenon, of the need for action, developing the necessary capacities in this regard.
  • The three planned mobilities were carried out according to the plan (with a slight adjustment of the calendar in the case of one of the students). The learning outcomes are highlighted and corresponded to the institutional expectations and the expectations or needs of the direct participants.
  • At the level of the institution, the project led to the development of the capacity to use innovative approaches, to increasing the visibility of the institution''s activity, to improving the services offered and sharing a common framework for addressing the bullying phenomenon.
  • The informal collaboration with the partner institutions continues.
  • The report briefly presents the local activities and the follow-up activities, the number of participants and the method of implementation. The local activities correspond to the initial plan and involved a number of participants at least equal to the estimated one - for some dissemination activities being higher.
  • 4 more schools were additionally involved, through a partnership with IPJ Mehedinti.
  • All participants received the Europass mobility certificate.
  • The project website is well structured and offers access to information on local activities.
  • Better highlighting of qualitative results, based on the data collected through evaluations of the impact generated at the level of the participating schools.
  • It is recommended to detail the local activities of the schools participating in the project. In the report, the activities of two schools are given as an example, but it would have been useful to include some information from other schools, which used a different method. It is recommended to pay more attention  when filling in the Europass mobility certificates
