Description

Objectives: Developing the professional skills of 9 school counselors, to implement innovative practices in education; Facilitating interaction in education through participation in innovative professional development training sessions, focusing on citizenship education and human rights.
TARGET GROUP: 9 school counselors participating in training programs in Norway and Iceland; at the local level: 57 school counselors, 100 teachers, 450 students and their families.
Project activities
Designing a training course by each of the two expert teams, a training session of 3 days supported by each of the two expert groups, addressed to school counselors, 3 workshops organized by each school counselor under the guidance and monitoring of the experts participating in the mobility, an information session on the objectives of the project to be developed in schools, addressed to the school directors in which workshops will be organized, 2 workshops working for parents at CJRAE headquarters, one for each group.
Each school councilor involved in the project will realized a recorded video practice.
The filmed material will be presented at the Educational for Democracy Festival, which will be organized in a public space in the community.

Summary of project results

The “Building Inclusive and Democratic School Culture” project aimed to develop the specialized professional skills of 9 school counselors. The number of school counselors in Suceava County is low compared to the needs of schools (61 counselors / 213 school units in the county. The project will lead to the improvement of the professional skills of counselors, who will then be able to organize training with teachers in schools that do not benefit from the services of a school counselor, promoting inclusion. Each teacher, student or parent participating in the activities organized within the project can become a resource person in promoting an inclusive education and democratic. A training course support was made for teachers, on the topic of inclusion and democratic education by the 9 teachers school counselors, based on which training workshops were organized with 60 teachers from Suceava County. The additional activity was a summer school for teachers, in August 2020 for 5 days, at the headquarters of CJRAE Suceava, attended by 49 teachers from pre-university education, rural and urban from Suceava county. Each teacher participated in the 9 training workshops organized by the school counselors. This was not an originally planned activity. The involvement of school counselors has increased, as well as organizing training courses in the summer school for teachers "Inclusive school in a democratic society" August 24 - 28, 2020. A collective volume with materials of the teachers participating in the summer school was published online. Workshops with students and parents in schools took place in the online space. A symposium was organized on November 16 for students and teachers "Tolerance - facilitator of inclusive and democratic culture in school", which presented successful activities in the field of inclusion and democratic education. This online activity was attended by 57 teachers who coordinated 426 participating students. The improvements brought by the project consisted in increasing the quality of the activity of the 9 school counselors participating in the mobilities and also of the 52 school counselors employed by CJRAE Suceava, by using innovative methods and techniques, assimilated by participating in training courses in Iceland and disseminated within the activities organized by CJRAE Suceava.
