Description

Context, background:  Given that the number of pupils with special educational needs is increasing each year, we have schools where the predominant student’s population is Roma, and there is a high school dropout risk, and rural schools are not assigned to a school counselor, we want to create an interdisciplinary program that aims at developing life skills and health education, using learning outcomes achieved  in the mobility, focused on cooperative learning, exepriential learning, project-based learning and creating the design of an interdisciplinary course. At the same time, we want to create a workshop for school counselors and speech therapists and another workshop for the interested teachers. To achieve this goal, 8 educational experts, school counselors, will participate in workshops, job shadowing and a structured course in Norway and Iceland. On their return from mobility, they will form working teams, create the design of an interdisciplinary program focusing on life skills and health education, especially for pupils from disadvantaged groups (minorities, pupils with special educational needs, rural students, pupils with risk of school dropout). Then there will be workshops for school counselors 2 groups of 25 school counselors. There will be dissemination newspapers and magazines, on paper and online. Longer term benefits: increasing school attendance; creating a cross-disciplinary programme, using interactive methods that increase motivation for learning. -the workshop could be included in the training offer of the CJRAE Alba for the future; -the cross-curricular programme could be implemented every year, in another school or different classes.

Summary of project results

To meet needs, eight school counselors participated in 2 learning mobilities aimed at the structured course: "Reaching, teaching and keeping our learners. Subsequently, participants in mobilities designed and organized the Workshop "Together for the development of students'' life skills" to empower 100 from Alba County to implement the program for the development of students'' life skills, integrating elements acquired in the two mobility skills.
