Description

The project assures the opportunities for running of mobilities for students and teaching staff in the frame of partnership between TUIASI (Technical University “Gheorghe Asachi” of Iasi, Romania) and 2 universities from Norway Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and 1 university from Island (University of Reikjavik).
The challenge is to facilitate the academic exchange, which in turn creates opportunities for increasing the level of human resources and developing together common projects in priority areas promoted through EEA grants. The project will enhance cooperation between interdisciplinary fields and organisations, as regarding cooperation between the education systems in T.U. Iasi and the universities from Norway and Island. The main objective of the project is to increase the number of the incoming and outgoing mobilities for both students and staff, which lead to the development of collaboration between the partner’s institutions.Student mobility will be related mainly to master and PHD students, in order to make experiments for master and PhD thesis, by use of equipment not available in host institution. The exchange of expertise will be finalized by participation of staff in master and PhD common commissions and doctoral schools.
Students and teaching staff from both our university and partner universities are expected to benefit from this project. The enhancement of collaboration at both institutional and individual levels will increase the transfer of knowledge and good practices with wider effects in the socio-economic area. The role of project partners could be summarized in:
- Support the implementation of pillars of the Icelandic and Norwegian educational system towards T.U. Iasi: literacy, sustainability, health and welfare, democracy and human rights, equality and creativity.
- Cooperate in the development of teaching methodology, by new approaches related to ITC instruments use.

Summary of project results

At our university level this project was needed because in the last years we encountered some difficulties in sending students to our partner universities. Nowadays students can travel to Europe on their own, this being the main reason why the number of outgoing students decreased. In this respect, by applying to this project our university gave to students the opportunity to perform a mobility to a partner university in Norway and Island and the mobility offer is wider. Learning mobility, that is transnational mobility for the purpose of acquiring new skills, is one of the fundamental ways through which individuals, particularly students, can strengthen their future employability as well as their personal development.
In this project was implemented only the mobility for students and academic staff: student mobility for study and placement and academic mobility for teaching and training. During this project a total number of 13 mobilities were performed with 2 partner universities from Norway: Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Summary of bilateral results

Our university has signed agreements with 2 universities from Norway and Iceland since 2014, but because the financing was very poor within the Erasmus+ or other programs the students could not afford to perform a mobility. In 2018 a new agreement has been signed with NTNU. Unfortunately the collaboration with the University in Iceland did not work within this project, because the coordinator of the agreement decided to take a 1 year sabbatical leave and at the central level nobody took over his responsibility. In this respect starting with the EEA grants students can apply for mobility and benefit from this experience. It is very important to have a donor project partner because the value of the grants is higher compared to other European programs and this way the beneficiaries are more attracted to apply. Our project with the 2 universities from Norway was a mobility project, a total number of 13 mobilities were conducted, out of which 6 mobilities are from Norway to Romania (1 student and 5 academic staff) and 7 mobilities are from Romania to Norway (3 students and 4 academic staff).Due to the fact that the number of interested students to perform mobility within this project was low, our university notified the National Agency about the fact that the condition of having at least 60% of mobilities for students would not be respected. The National Agency approved our university request. Our project with Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) is continued, in this respect in the period 01.06.2019-30.09.2020 the project 18-MPO-0058 is running.
