Description

The main challenge addressed by the project is the internationalization in HE, both in terms of internationalization "at home" and increasing the number of transnational mobilities for students and teaching staff. This will indirectly contribute to curricular development and an increased quality and variety of courses. The project contributes to the process of internationalisation at home by the incoming flows of paarticipants - the non-mobile students and staff will be exposed to international experiences from home: through the classes taught by foreign teachers. Also, the exchanges can set the premises for further developing the institutional cooperation. The objective is to strengthen the cooperation between the two universities and contribute to the internationalization of the study programs in the field of business.

The mobilities address both:
- students - initially bachelor''s students, but open also to master and PhD students

- teachers - regardless of their academic rank, with an interest in developing academic cooperation.

RU will receive incoming students and staff, will organize the selection and preparation of the outgoing participants, will send relevant reporting information to ASE.
ASE will receive incoming participants, will organize the selection and preparation of the outgoing student and teaching staff mobility, will be responsible for coordinating the mobilities, managing funds and reporting.
Both universities will ensure fair and transparent selection processes, taking into account academic performance, language competencies and motivation of the applicants. After selection, they will provide information to nominated participants regarding the administrative procedures. Both institutions will ensure the monitoring of the mobility activities, follow-up with participants regarding their experience, full recognition for the studies carried out abroad, communication and dissemination of the results.

Summary of project results

The main challenge addressed by the project is the internationalization in higher education, as defined in the internationalization strategy, both in terms of internationalization "at home" (exposing domestic students and staff to international experiences) and increasing the number of transnational mobilities. It also contributes to curricular development and enrichment and an increased quality and variety of courses.
The project contributes to the process of internationalisation at home by the incoming flows - the non-mobile students and staff were exposed to international experiences without leaving the premises of the university: through the classes taught by foreign teachers, which allowed the access to different information / case studies, shared experiences and inter-cultural exchanges.
The activities carried out within the project were teacher and staff mobilities between the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Reykjavik University (1 STA and 1 STT from Bucharest to Reykjavik and 2 STA and 2 STT from Iceland to Romania). The project was instrumental in increasing cooperation between the two universities - cooperation existed before, but the distance and lack of funding made it difficult. By being able to organize mobilities, the impact was higher on both sides, by direct exposure of a larger number of students and staff to international experiences. Both our universities took advantage of the mobilities to also exchange good practices and do a mapping of the common points of teaching and research interests in view of further cooperation - either within the EEA grants scheme, or Erasmus+ or Horizon 2020.
We expect the project to continue to produce results by the personal and professional networks that resulted from the mobilities. Based on the feedback from the participants, they will continue working together in order to develop further projects.

Summary of bilateral results

The main benefit is a better knowledge of each partner''s procedures in the field of academic and scientific process management. The project resulted in 6 mobilities (2 from ASE to RU and 4 from RU to ASE).Important progress as been made in the field of strengthening cooperation in teaching business ethics and governance, through the exchange of teaching staff: teaching methods, showcasing research results through meetings with peers, specific case studies, working on future cooperation projects (preparing applications for future joint projects). Also, the project facilitated the exchange of experience on preparing research proposals and international cooperation projects funded through EEA and EU grants.Ethics and good governance play an important role in the Icelandic society in general and academic life in particular. Through our mobility project, we have managed to identify further areas of cooperation which could be mutually beneficial in the future and will constitute the foundations for future cooperation. We are currently working in preparing a project proposal to be submitted in a future EU call.
