Description

The general objective is to improve the conditions for the manifestation of Roma culture and to increase the degree of inclusion and awareness of cultural identity through the performing arts, digital access and entrepreneurship. The three specific objectives refer to improving the perception of Roma culture by conducting activities on the performing arts with the participation of at least 500 people, strengthening cultural identity by conducting an internship program, a mentoring program, a networking event for craftsmen and a webinar on promoting Roma culture and increasing access to cultural history through innovative methods aimed at using ICT in the development of a Virtual Roma Museum.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to address several challenges related to the representation and inclusion of Roma culture. It sought to improve the conditions for the expression and visibility of Roma cultural heritage while fostering greater inclusion and awareness of Roma identity. By integrating performing arts, digital access, and entrepreneurship, the project aimed to create sustainable opportunities for Roma cultural manifestation and strengthen their presence in the broader cultural landscape.

The project implemented a series of activities to promote Roma culture through performing arts, digital platforms, and entrepreneurship.

A three-day Minorities Festival was organized, featuring 42 Roma artists and attracting an audience of 600 people. A Roma music album was produced to preserve and promote the community’s musical heritage. An online museum of the Roma community was created, providing digital access to Roma history, traditions, and artistic expressions.

The project also focused on professional development and entrepreneurship. An internship program was conducted for five participants, offering hands-on experience in cultural fields. A mentoring program supported 67 individuals, helping them develop skills and navigate career opportunities. A networking event brought together 30 Roma craftsmen to foster collaboration and market access. A webinar on promoting Roma culture was organized, raising awareness and equipping participants with tools to enhance cultural representation.

The project achieved significant results, benefiting Roma artists, craftsmen, and children by enhancing their skills, visibility, and cultural representation. It improved entrepreneurial knowledge and skills for Roma artists who participated in specialized training, equipping them with tools to develop sustainable careers in the cultural sector. The Roma Festival provided a platform to showcase Roma music and culture, increasing public appreciation and engagement while offering artists the opportunity to perform for a wider audience.

Summary of bilateral results

The partnership proved to be highly beneficial, with the partner contributing to the music production for the festival, organizing the webinar, and facilitating the participation of representatives from Norway at the Roma Festival in Iași. This collaboration strengthened cultural exchange and provided international visibility for Roma artists. The partnership is continuing beyond the project through a bilateral initiative that will remain active until the end of February 2025, further fostering cooperation and supporting the promotion of Roma culture on a broader scale.
