Description
The central challenge of the 21st century is to achieve a good and sustainable lifestyle that respects the planet''s natural boundaries. Despite the increasingly widespread recognition of this fact, the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs by 2030 is considered an overambitious goal of the UN and the countries that adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, including Romania.
The project brings together 3 strategic partners in the SD sector from three regions of the country.
In the first phase of the project, the 3 national reference associations in this marginal sector join forces to catalyze, together with 6 other representative organizations, a common narrative and a first institutional memory of the sustainable development movement in Romania. The retrospective is necessary to see to what extent we can build a collective vision, recover some energies from the past, learn from each other and inspire the prospective sector to promote it to the general public and nurture the determination to become active citizens.
In the second phase, partner associations also facilitate storytelling training activities, i.e. peer to peer training for expertise transfer. They thus empower at least 15 people active in at least 5 organisations in the sector to communicate with diverse audiences more effectively, analyse their social impact and increase their resilience.
In the largest phase of the project, the communication campaign is developed and launched that will make the project visible to 300 000 people. It will contain multiple forms of creative expression and will include various channels, for the transmission of content addressed mainly to young people up to 35 years old but also to legal entities. The project will eventually activate as members, volunteers, donors and supporters more than 150 citizens and at least 40 legal entities - NGOs, schools, companies.
Summary of project results
This project aimed to tackle significant challenges in sustainable development by fostering collaboration among three partner organizations. The initiative began with a retrospective survey involving nine organizations experienced in sustainable development, which provided valuable insights and identified best practices.
A prospective analysis explored the varied visions of sustainable development among these organizations, helping to inform future strategies. To enhance communication capabilities, the project included two training sessions focused on storytelling and peer-to-peer learning. These sessions aimed to empower participants to convey their messages effectively. A tailored communication strategy was also developed for the three partners, streamlining their outreach efforts and ensuring consistency in messaging. Central to the project was the launch of the #HaiDeDe - The Common Movement for Sustainable Development campaign. This campaign encompassed a range of activities and materials designed to raise awareness and engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
A notable highlight was a joint event on CONVIVIALITY, which drew over 220 participants from diverse social backgrounds, fostering community engagement and dialogue. In addition, the project worked to strengthen organizational resilience by implementing both online and offline campaigns that encouraged involvement from a variety of stakeholders, including citizens, NGOs, businesses, and authorities. These initiatives aimed to enlist volunteers and supporters in promoting sustainable practices. Ultimately, the #HaiDeDe campaign successfully reached over 680,000 individuals, surpassing initial targets and demonstrating a profound impact on community awareness and participation in sustainable development initiatives.
