Description

The needs faced by the Giurgiu - Gaujani rural area consist in a low degree of citizen participation and a limited capacity of leaders to mobilize the community and make improvements at the community level. Young people in this area have reduced opportunities for education and involvement, their involvement and participation in civic education being essential for upholding democratic values and human rights. Young people are interested in projects and have expressed the need to get actively involved, the need for their voice to be heard. They want to participate in local council meetings, to be consulted on decisions concerning them and to have their proposals supported.
The project creates the framework and provides instruments for the active participation of youth in the community, as well as for mobilizing other citizens at local level.
The direct beneficiaries are 10 young Roma and non-Roma who will be trained in community intervention methods and project development and who will acquire instruments to become agents of change. They will be directly involved in planning at least 4 activities / events for the local community.
A local youth education center will be established and a planning local for a period of 1 year contains at least 4 activities/ events for community in which will involved at least 40 young people and reaching the at least 200 people from the community.
The partner is an important pillar in the community, working with young people for many years. It will support the implementation at local level and can take over the coordination of the center established by the project. On a longer term the young people trained in the project will propose and get involved in the implementation of new local development projects.
