Summary of project results

In Romania there are about 70,000 children with ESC. Less than half of them are enrolled in special schools, and there is only 1 support teacher for every 150 students with disabilities. The school curriculum is not adapted for children with disabilities, there is no accessibility and assistive technology, teachers do not have the necessary training to manage these students, therapies for children with disabilities are financially expensive. Within the project a day centre for children with ESC has been opened, where they benefit from the services of a multidisciplinary team: psychologists, pedagogues, speech therapists, physiotherapist, instructor-educator for resocialization.

Since February, the centre has received the license to operate, being accredited in accordance with the provisions of Law No 197/2012 on quality assurance in the field of social services, with subsequent amendments and additions. I am here! Within the project, 45 children attended remedial courses, 47 received speech therapy sessions, 28 sensory therapy sessions and 54 received personal development sessions.
