Description

The rural area can function only symbiotically with nearby resources, but at the same time there is a need for effervescence and social awareness, in order to maximize human potential and create a sustainable development of the community. The identified problems in Alba county rural communities are the lack of a system of monitoring and using environmental information, the reduced capacity of local eco-producers to compete with community products, the non-involvement of the population in recycling and a decrease in adolescents'' interest in education, and civism. The approach involves 3 issues: identifying problems, generating and putting solutions into practice. The project creates the context needed for a series of activities aiming to activate citizens. After the initial sociological research, which will have a correspondent at the end of the implementation to quantify the impact, begins the selection of 10 local producers to go through the process of on- and offline branding, ensuring physical and digital identity that would allow the increase of competitiveness among micro-enterprises and organizing a flagship event for the community. Through the educational component, in meetings with experts, we aim to identify at least one local initiative group to receive support in order to formalize their activity. The greening activity of Pianu and Mureș riverbed leads to a temporary solution to the waste problem. To create an impact, we''ll be placing selective collection stations in key areas and we launch an idea competition promoted at regional level. Our partners are Rotary Alba with experience in organizing activities with community impact, coordinating with them the cleaning activities and tree planting, "1 Dec 1918" University. which participates with teachers and students in the sociological research and volunteering, together with local civic society as well as Biciclim Association, which promotes alternative transport.

Summary of project results

The rural area can only function symbiotically with nearby resources. However, there is also a need for effervescence and social awareness to maximize human potential and promote sustainable development within the community. In Alba county’s rural communities several problems have been identified, including the lack of a system for monitoring and utilizing environmental information, the limited capacity of local ecoproducers to compete with community products, the lack of population involvement in recycling, and a decrease in adolescents'' interest in education and civic engagement.

the promoter, along with its partners, engaged the local community in civic revitalization activities, education, alternative mobility, and environmental idea competitions. By involving youngsters in planting 500 seedlings on the Mures riverbed and greening the Vințu valley, with the participation of 50 volunteers and approximately 100 young people from the local community, the association initiated activities dedicated to beneficiaries, successfully generating social effervescence around the project. Another community involvement event was the workshop on alternative mobility and contest for kids, specifically focusing on bicycle handling. Additionally, a contest of ideas on environmental issues were organized, which attracted over 170 entrants. Following the competition, a gala was held, which provided an opportunity for youth to connect with entrepreneurs, environmental specialists, and local decision-makers.

Throughout the project activities, cooperative relationships were established with the local administration and school. The project significantly contributed to the revitalization of the rural community and the development of a more responsible younger generation..
