Description

The current health situation, generated by the pandemic, requires better cooperation with the parents of children with disabilities. They will have to assist and work directly with their children in guiding them in using the IT communication technique.
Within the project, parenting programs and workshops will be carried out to improve the partnership between parents and school, in accordance with the current reality. Training courses for 10 parental counselors, parenting activities, workshops, conferences, visits to students’ homes will be organized. University staff will be invited to provide scientific resources in the field, while the organization will access webinars in the field of special psychopedagogy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy etc. The partner, the Special Gymnasium School in Pascani, as the final beneficiary, will provide both qualified staff and the necessary spaces for the activities.
As project results, both parents and teachers will have a better vision of the educational-therapeutic intervention, using specific logistics, both online and physical. Finally, the partner school will have in its portfolio an online educational service, developed on the G-Suite platform and Google Classroom. Specialized materials will be available for other interested institutions. The entire activity will be disseminated towards Iasi County School Inspectorate and Iasi County Council as an example of good practices. The final results will be capitalized in the educational-therapeutic process and will be included in the educational offer of the partner school.

Summary of project results

The purpose of the project was to create a modern environment to facilitate the school-parent-child communication, by running training courses for teachers from the partner school and for the parent-tutors initiation in using IT technology for educational purposes.

Activities: 1 A parenting course for teachers. The course was coordinated by the university staff from the A.I. Cuza University of Iași. After completing the course, 12 teachers were certified as parent educators. 100 parents and 10 educators improved their collaboration and their teamwork skills and, as well, the parent-child-teacher relationship within the educational-therapeutic process. 2 A training course coordinated by EDUAPPS Romania through the Edusfera Association. The course was addressed to both teachers and parents and was aimed for training the necessary skills in working with the educational platforms Google Classroom and Workspace due to the conditions of the pandemic period, but also in other conditions that require the absence of students from the classes.

The beneficiaries were 110 parents and educators, as well as 50 teaching staff from the Pașcani Special Secondary School. At the end of the course, 160 graduation certificates were awarded to all participants. Work skills were perfected in the online environment, under special conditions. 3. A conference that debated topics such as: "Parenting - the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers", "The role of the educational services in the online environment during the pandemic and after it", "The role of non-governmental organizations in facilitating some services/projects". More than 60 people participated in the physical environment and more than 200 teaching staff in the online environment..4. An elaboration of a good practice guide with the title "Parenting - challenges and perspectives" - it brought together approximately 150 works proposed.
