Description
The project aims to address the low level of development of civil society in rural and small-town areas, further impacted by COVID-19. Building on Tara Fagarasului Community Foundation’s 7 years of experience, the rural and small urban areas of Țara Făgărașului region have the least opportunities for increasing the capacity and sustainability of civil society.
The project will create a mechanism to continuously enhance the capacity of civil society in Tara Fagarasului (a region that is mainly rural) and to involve 100 initiatives in a process, adapted to their specific needs. This will include: mapping the region’s civil society (by community and field of action), inspirational activities and mentoring, showing appreciation and recognition, training sessions and learning processes, partnership building, establishing a regional civil society network, and developing two hubs and resource centers for NGOs.
The benefits for these organizations are increasing their capacity on areas such as organizational governance and transparency, legal aspects and internal organization, planning and advocacy, monitoring, evaluation and impact management, resources management, strategic fundraising and strategic communication and enhancing relations with the community.
The project is implemented in partnership with Association Fagaras Research Institute and Mihai and Maria Fratila Foundation.
Summary of project results
The project aimed to address the limited degree of development and sustainability of civil society in Fagaras Country, negatively affected by the pandemic, the refugee crisis in Ukraine, economic decline and accentuated depopulation, generating limited resources, by developing replicable approaches and tested through this project. Thus, during the project we worked on the development of a continuous mechanism for increasing the capacity of civil society and the involvement of almost 100 organizations in at least one activity developed through the project.
Throughout the project, we gave special importance to young people and vulnerable groups, people from minority groups. The mechanisms that the project developed included the mapping of the civil society in the area, learning activities, sharing and mentoring, appreciation and recognition, learning and training courses, creating partnerships and the beginning of the development of the regional network of NGOs, as well as the development of 2 hubs and resource centers for NGOs (CAFF and @homeinFagaras). The beneficiaries of the project were the communities of Tara Fagarasului, namely: newly established organizations and small, medium and large organizations. The secondary target groups were the initiative groups, companies and public institutions invited to support civil society initiatives.
The impact of the project can be found at the level of communities, organizations and partner organizations, as follows: a more connected, more capable, confident and sustainable civil society sector was developed, organized through the network of organizations and with the support of the project promoteur in the area, with two support hubs for initiatives and projects. Also, FCTF has consolidated its strategic focus with regard to increasing the capacity of civil society and the necessary mechanisms for it to serve with more impact the communities of Tara Fagarasului.
