Description

The project supports the next steps from the implementation of the strategy of the Transylvanian Highlands Partnership. This strategy focuses on the sustainable development of the communities from the Transylvanian Highlands Ecotourism Destination. The organizations of this Partnership are: WWF Romania, Mioritics, As. Judeteana de Turism Sibiu, Fundatia Biserici Fortificate, Adept Transilvania, Mihai Eminescu Trust, GAL Microregiunea Hartibaciu, GAL Dealurile Tarnavelor, GAL Podisul Mediasului, GAL Brasov Nord. These organizations work together in the project for the democratization of the governance system at local and regional level through their own advocacy actions and through educating and involving communities using models developed in the area. The main expected results are the creation of 10 core groups of community involvement in ten communes of the Transylvanian Highlands area, acting on local and regional initiatives to influence decision making and community development. Mentors from the Partnership organizations educate and guide 150 local leaders to know and use their rights and possibilities to participate in the governance process at local and regional level. The Partnership advocacy group develops and promotes initiatives to influence regional decision-making processes at the county levels in the three counties from the area - promoting the local governance models from the area to the members of the Parliament and to the regional authorities from the Transylvanian Highlands counties, promoting the local governance models towards 3000 people and to communities from the other eco-tourism destination through events, films and online materials. The organizations of the Partnership will develop their competencies by working together in the project and also by attending special training courses on advocacy, organizational management and communication. Also, they will create clear and transparent working procedures to make the Partnership more efficient.
