Description
This project fits in the development of standards for the construction sector that promote the circularity of materials and processes. The project create a seal to assess the value to a given product for the construction that indicates that the product was developed and will contribute, in its phase of use, to a better social, economic, and environmental condition. It allows the reduction of environmental impacts, informing also how it should be deconstructed at the end of its useful life and its capacity for reuse and / or recycling. The methodology attributes this distinction following sustainability and circular economy parameters, evaluating the material in their entire life cycle using a computer tool.
Summary of project results
The ultimate objective of this label is to encourage the search for and supply of products that cause less disturbances in the environment through the communication of verifiable and accurate information about the environmental aspects of products, thus stimulating the potential for environmental improvement continuous oriented towards the best options available on the market.
This Type I environmental labeling program contributes to reducing impacts environmental factors associated with products through the identification of products that satisfy the established criteria for an environmental preference. This project promotes an action that will clearly reinforce the company''s ability to ensure faster gains in terms of the scope of this service. This is intended project to find a way to distinguish the products of companies that are already customers of BONGREEN and to select the products of companies that intend to become them, through a tool that allows you to evaluate the sustainability of your products and compare them on an equal basis circumstances with other products on the market for the same function. The environmental criteria and functional requirements for each product category were established for a period of three years, after which the product is reevaluated. The criteria defined environmental and functional requirements will be reviewed every two years, or sooner, if justified, taking into account factors such as new technologies, new products, recent environmental information and market changes.
With the help of the aforementioned ISO, the aim is to attribute a sustainable value associated with production and use of that product, which completely meets the general objectives of EEA Grants and, specifically, from the Environment Program. This is expected to boost BONGREEN and its customers to a higher level, as companies will start working to obtain this seal, and will consequently be valued for having products that will be labeled as promoting a better and more sustainable built environment.
The company that already works with construction products, with principles of sustainability, there is a precise and verifiable tool on how to measure, so to speak, the circularity of materials and processes in the construction sector. This investment was completely effective, since during the development of the project, it was possible to perceive the need that the country has to certify construction products in a credible and scientific manner, since this is a sector with numerous environmental impacts, translated by the consumption of raw materials, energy, water and waste generation (RCD). It was a creative and innovative project that, in addition to enabling this micro-company to assert itself in the area of materials certification, will certainly contribute to greater quality and sustainability in construction products. Promotes the application of economic principles circular, by reducing the use of construction materials, its effectiveness during operation and control of waste production, as the possibility of recovery will not be neglected of a given material/waste, at any stage.
