DIVERSOS E ATIVOS aims to develop a set of transformative tools and instruments for the promotion of diversity and tolerance and for the fight against discrimination in work relationships. In this sense it is necessary to implement measures in companies that support coexistence and social cohesion as a fundamental measure to ensure full inclusion and respect for human rights, thus eliminating prejudice, discrimination and racism. The project plans to develop training guides, consulting initiatives and training and awareness campaigns involving human resources professionals from participating companies and NGOs specialised and experienced in the promotion and defence of human rights. In all, the project is expected to involve 100 organisations and 180 professionals from various sectors and regions of Portugal.
Summary of project results
The project aimed to develop a set of transformative tools and instruments to promote Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), and reducing discrimination in the workplace with human resources professionals from companies and social inclusion professionals from social economy organizations.
Throughout two years of implementation, using a collaborative development and validation approach with 31 partner entities, the main results of this project are:
- 1 initial survey study on perceptions of discrimination in Portugal among human resoureces professionals, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about Diversity & Inclusion and unconscious biases in these populations.
- 2 training guides for HR and social economy professionals, offering content on DEI, unconscious biases, and inclusive recruitment.
- 1 DEI e-learning training programme.
- 1 video campaign featuring testimonials from HR and social economy professionals who have integrated people with diverse characteristics, as well as testimonials from those who have been integrated, showcasing the benefits of DEI practices and policies.
In quantitative terms, the following was achieved:
- 183 professional staff trained;
- 1 awareness raising campaign carried out;
- 95% share of target group showing concern for human rights.
In terms of capacity building, the promoter carried out a needs assessment and prepared an action plan. This led to the development of an institutional communication plan.
All proposed targets were met and exceeded.
Summary of bilateral results
KUN contributed to the project''s dissemination and provided an international perspective. They offered specific feedback on theoretical content, visual aids, and information formats for the e-learning training. KUN''s expertise ensured the quality of the e-learning training and will guide future efforts in this area.
