Aiming to reinforce knowledge and the active role of civil society in the promotion of Citizenship and Human Rights, especially among young people, educational entities and NGOs in the district of Braga, HUMANIZ(ARTE) proposes to train, educate and mobilise young people, teachers and civil society on the importance of the defence of Human Rights and the relevance of active participation in the community. The programme will involve promotional videos, workshops, awareness-raising initiatives, professional training, artistic workshops and the public presentation of results through events such as exhibitions, shows, film screenings, webinars and online promotion.
Summary of project results
The project was implemented in the municipality of Braga and aimed to address the shortage of educational and training interventions for young people on Human Rights, as well as the lack of materials and training for teachers and technicians.
The project adopted a comprehensive approach to education, training, and awareness in the field of Human Rights, leading to the following actions:
1 - Awareness and Information Activities:
- Created a promotional video and held a launch event.
- Conducted awareness actions for students and informational workshops for young people.
2 - Professional Training:
- Held two teacher training courses, including a survey of training needs and the design of an accredited training itinerary.
- Conducted two training sessions for technicians.
3 - Mobilization for Action:
- Promoted three Artistic Expression Workshops, resulting in the production and public presentation of three artistic products on Human Rights.
- Carried out school awareness campaigns using student-produced materials (videos, posters, and leaflets).
4 - Dissemination of Information and Products:
- Produced and disseminated 92 microfilms/videos on Human Rights.
- Organized a performative musical show, a photographic exhibition, and a theater play.
- Created and promoted a project blog and held a closing event.
5 - Impact on Beneficiaries:
- Increased knowledge and willingness to act within the framework of active citizenship and the promotion of human rights.
- Ensured involvement, commitment, mobilization, and proactivity of recipients through active methodologies and participative processes.
- Achieved a multiplier effect of actions through the transformative activities and professional training.
In quantitative terms, the following was achieved:
- 108 professional staff trained;
- 1.979 youths mobilised by NGOs to engage in human rights work;
- 23 awareness raising campaigns carried out;
- 97% share of target group showing concern for human rights.
In terms of capacity building, the promoter carried out a needs assessment and prepared an action plan. This led to the development and implementation of an institutional communication plan, including the creation of an intranet.
All proposed targets were met and exceeded.
