Description

The aim of the project is to improve the functioning of the system of preventing domestic violence by conducting activities in the field of early prevention. The project contributes to the above-mentioned goal by strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation between institutions, increasing the competence of staff through training and supervision for professionals providing support to people experiencing violence, as well as increasing awareness in the field of preventing violence and improving the quality of relationships between families / couples from the Biała Piska commune. Thanks to the implementation of the project, social awareness will increase, the competence of specialists and interdisciplinary cooperation will develop.

The project provides for activities aimed at supporting equal treatment and preventing exclusion, including combating stereotypes and prejudices, and the effects of discrimination, such as hindered use of rights, freedoms and resources on an equal basis with others. It has been planned to adapt a place where the activities will be conducted to the needs of people using the support.

The project takes into account the identified needs of both sexes and the gender-specific needs

There will be specific activities aimed at women such as self-defence and assertiveness training, WENDO workshops as well as particular activities for men such as NVC (nonviolent communication) workshops in connection with identifying the need to raise awareness of non-violent activities among men. The Partner in the project is the Woman on Plus Association whose main objective it to help women in difficult life situations but also in development of their professional careers.

Summary of project results

The project was directed at improving the domestic violence prevention system by conducting early prevention activities.

The project activities concerned the implementation of:

-A comprehensive program to prevent domestic violence through :
- Creation of a Center for Families including a Consultation Point,
- Group workshops for families on mediation and individual meetings with a mediator,
- Sessions for parents and professionals at the Primary School in Biała Piska,
- Exit training for members of the Interdisciplinary Team and members of Working Groups, as well as supervisions,
- Social campaigns,
- WENDO self-defense and assertiveness workshops for women and Nonviolent Communication NVC workshops for men, 
- Trainings for specialists of the Center for Families who implement tasks in the area of counteracting violence from aid institutions, as well as members of the Interdisciplinary Team.

The general objective of the “A happy family free from violence. City and Commune of Biała Piska effectively against violence” project was to improve the functioning of the system of counteracting family violence, by conducting activities in the field of early prevention. The project pursued the aforementioned goal by strengthening interdisciplinary cooperation between institutions, increasing the competence of staff through training and supervision for those providing support to people experiencing violence, as well as increasing awareness of counteracting violence and improving the quality of relationships of families/couples from the Biała Piska commune.
Thanks to the implementation of the project, there was an increase in public awareness, development of the competence of specialists and interdisciplinary cooperation, which contributed to the effective identification of people experiencing violence and greater public awareness.
