Summary of project results
The project “Nice, nicer, Miłki - a zone free from violence” was aimed at reducing the issue of domestic violence in the municipality by improving the quality of relationships within the family. One of the priorities was the establishment of a Center for Families, where a person reporting domestic violence will receive support. The most important activities of the Center for Families included the establishment of the Parent''s Club. A total of 11 families participated in the Parent''s Club, where cyclical meetings on various topics were held. Participation was aimed at family bonding by spending active time together.
In addition, 3 family trips were held, which were a major event for participating families, the functioning of the Point for Psychological Help (a total of 327 meetings with a specialist for individuals and couples were held). In addition, workshops were also held in the series “Parental Trips”, which provided participants with the opportunity to exchange experiences and acquire information on parenting strategies and building family ties. Just as importantly, an interesting activity was to conduct a self-defense course for 20 women from the municipality of Miłki. We conducted a training course for 40 teachers from 3 municipal schools on how to set up a Blue Card (a form of Polish domestic violence report system), recognize domestic violence and educate children about violence.
Employees of the municipal Social Welfare Center and other institutions involved in the project also received support themselves through the opportunity to participate in a study visit organized by a non-governmental organization working in the field of domestic violence prevention.
The project increased public awareness of the issueof violence and prevention. It enjoyed a very high level of interest from the local community, which willingly used the help of specialists. Throughout the project period, the Parent''s Club operated, which provided an opportunity to spend time together and improve the quality of relationships within the family. The project achieved higher indicators than initially expected, as originally 17 cases of family violence were to be reported, but in the end there were 23. The situation was similar with the number of people at risk of family violence receiving support services, as the initial target was 560 people, and a figure of 676 was achieved. All the assumed indicators of the project were achieved to a surprisingly high degree. The satisfaction of the Participants exceeded the predictions of the project implementers. Families involved in the Parent''s Club to this day remain in good relations, maintain the good practices started in the project - such as joint family trips. The implementation of the project was a breakthrough in our municipality in terms of emphasizing the importance of good family relations.
