Description

Marina Topacz, offering 40 berths for yachts, is one of the largest marinas in Wrocław. Its central location on the Odra river, in close proximity to the city’s major tourist attractions, generates a lot of customer interest, while at the same time introducing major constraints on its operation. The city’s numerous bridges and locks do not allow larger vessels to dock. Hence our project is aimed at introducing a new port service which will provide berths for transport companies operating along the Odra Waterway. The project includes preparatory works, and the purchase and installation of 40 floating jetties with equipment such as electric boat charging stations with photovoltaic panels.

Floating waste on the Odra waters, which has so far flown into the Baltic Sea, is a problem for all river users, so we have planned to introduce services of cleaning the surface of the river with a waste collection boat to be purchased under the project. The catamaran will keep the surroundings of the floating piers clean by removing floating debris, which will translate into increased attractiveness of the moorings offered by the marina. The device will also be used to provide floating waste clean-up services on any section of the Odra river in Wrocław. Wody Polskie – the National Water Management Authority will be one of the recipients of these services. The vessel will collect garbage in special cans. So far, this type of waste has been trapped on weirs and then from time to time let down further where it settled on next weirs, and so travelled all the way to the Baltic Sea. The project will therefore benefit the aquatic environment locally and more broadly, as the garbage will be removed from the water on an ongoing basis.
