Description

We operate a hotel and a marina on Tałty Lake near Mikołajki – one of the main tourist centres of the Great Mazurian Lakes region; we also have a fleet of 4 ships for tourist cruises and charter. The marina is one of the largest in the region, with more than 200 metres of shoreline infrastructure. In addition to moorings in the harbour, there is a captain’s office, access to sanitary facilities, rain showers for overnight boat guests and water equipment rental. Our goal is to develop and further modernize the port by introducing pro-environmental solutions, and IT tools for port management and customer reservations. The project involves enlarging the existing harbour with additional 39 berths for boats and ships, constructing a pier and introducing elements which will make it an eco-marina: photovoltaic panels in the harbour infrastructure; mobile pump to collect sewage from ships and sanitary facilities; and a “life rack” that will increase the safety of marina customers. (It is a sound and light system integrated with a lifebelt that alerts a person in the water to a life threatening situation). In addition, we will purchase a containerized boathouse with sanitary facilities and an elevator for people with limited mobility; renovate 3 tourist cottages and repurpose them as thematic cottages for training (Angler’s House, Sailor’s House and Health House with wellness), including the installation of multimedia walls. Port management and monitoring systems will also be acquired.

As a result of the project we will offer to boaters a safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly marina. The estimated reduction in our port’s annual CO2 emissions will be 12 tons, and the amount of waste we collect from ships and yachts will be about 84 tons per year, reducing illegal sewage discharges into the lake.

Summary of project results

The activities planned as part of the project are a response to the needs identified (as part of internal research) of individual customers and entrepreneurs using the existing port infrastructure of the Robert''s Port Hotel in Stare Sady. They identified the lack of full port services in the form of an insufficient number of places in the port with the possibility of using utilities, sanitary infrastructure, sewage suction services or relaxation and rest offers while ensuring the safety of the stay and simplifying the purchasing process.

In response to the identified problems, the project planned many important activities aimed at improving the quality of the company. As part of the project implementation, activities were planned to launch new innovative services in the field of ecology, sustainable water tourism based on the principles of sustainable development and renewable energy sources.

The activities were based on the implementation of four main assumptions:

1. expansion of the port by increasing the number of places for boats and ships for users of Lake Tałty, which is part of the Great Masurian Lakes route;

2. purchase and installation of port floating elements and purchase and installation of port equipment (through appropriate modernization of the current boatswain''s office, revitalization of the sanitary facility and adapting accessibility for disabled people);

3. development and implementation of innovations for the project, i.e. applications for managing all services provided by the enterprise;

4. revitalization of 3 houses and planning of 3 thematic blocks as an elevation, respectively

services provided.

The developed assumptions form a coherent whole, and the implementation of the planned activities will increase the company''s competitiveness on the market by expanding the currently provided services and increasing the attractiveness of the region for customers (tourists, sailors and other water sports fans).

The planned investment is a response to the future challenges facing the company Hotel Robert''s Port Żegluga Pasażerska Mikołajki Robert Śliwiński - it is another step in the company''s development based on innovation, by increasing competitiveness and proposed new services as a continuation of the process of building a modern, energy-efficient and ecological infrastructure, fully supporting tourism and water craft.

The planned activities are consistent with the expected general objectives of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2020 and are based on the possibility of co-financing as part of the project "Improving the competitiveness of HOTEL ROBERT''S PORT PASSENGER SHIPPING MIKOŁAJKI ROBERT ŚLIWIŃSKI by creating innovative network products in the area of water tourism”.

As part of the implementation of the project "Increasing the competitiveness of HOTEL ROBERT''S PORT ŻEGLUGA PASAŻERSKA MIKOŁAJKI ROBERT ŚLIWIŃSKI by creating innovative network products in the area of water tourism", the expansion of the inland navigation port in Stare Sady located on the route of the Great Masurian Lakes was planned. The planned investment contributed to increasing the accessibility of port infrastructure for customers, improving the service of watercraft traffic, while improving the comfort of sailors'' stay in the port by launching services provided at the marina.

Innovative activities were planned and implemented to increase the competitiveness of the company on the market, by expanding its services and proposing new ones, which had not been implemented as part of the company''s operations so far. As part of the project implementation, a complete product was obtained, consisting of a number of innovations:

1. Product innovation in the scope of expansion by an additional 39 places for tourists using Lake Tałty together with the launch of additional services: use of water and electricity in the port area and sanitary facilities: washrooms, toilets, showers, laundry, including devices adapted for people with disabilities and providing information on the level of free places in the port and current weather conditions.

2. Photovoltaics - a product innovation affecting the environment in the scope of energy use in the expanded port and reducing the impact of CO2 on the environment

3. Installation of a pump for sewage from ships/boats - a product innovation on an enterprise scale allowing for the introduction of sales of sewage collection services from yachts.

4. Life stand - a product innovation that significantly improves the safety of tourists due to the possibility of alerting dangerous events.

5. Mobile application - a product innovation that allows for the reservation of places in the port, the possibility of paying for a place via the application, the possibility of booking thematic cottages and using the current services provided by the company. The application allows for the improvement of processes related to the sale of services, increasing access to information and increasing the marketing potential of the port.

6. Elevator for the disabled - a product innovation on an enterprise scale that improves the accessibility of the port infrastructure for people with disabilities.

7. Educational/thematic cottages - a product innovation on an enterprise scale that allows for the introduction of an educational element and care for sailors during stopovers by modernizing tourist cottages, which have become "thematic cottages". The creation of the cottages: Sailor, Angler and Health raised the awareness of the natural environment and the comfort of port customers and increased the accessibility and offer for people with disabilities.

The result of the project implementation is to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of Hotel Robert’s Port on the market by providing new services that will be a driving force for the development of customers’ interest in staying in Masuria and in the nearby natural environment.
