Description

Grupa Amax owns two marinas on the Great Masurian Lakes Trail – in Mikołajki and in Stare Sady. The project aims at increasing access to the marina infrastructure for tourists at Mikołajskie lake. Thanks to the construction of a Multifunctional Sailing Service Platform, we will implement integrated sailing services for customers engaged in water tourism, which will contribute to increasing tourist traffic while respecting the lake ecosystem.

The project consists of four infrastructure tasks: 1. Modernisation of the pier with existing infrastructure in Stare Sady; 2. Creation of 45 moorings in the marina of Mikołajki and the purchase of eight pontoons; 3. Comprehensive modernisation of the boat-building facility in Stawek; and 4. Construction of the Multifunctional Sailing Service Platform with appropriate infrastructure. An integral part of the works in the marinas of Mikołajki and Stare Sady will be the implementation of an original system of marina basin aeration. This will reduce the vegetation cutting in Mikołajskie lake at the depths from 5 m to 2.5 m, and so will have a positive impact on the water ecosystem. It will also provide for the possibility to manage the coastal infrastructure in a more efficient way. The project will reduce the annual carbon emission by 14.33 tons, and electricity consumption by 0.03 GWh as a result of a new photovoltaic system installed on the boat-building facility in Stawek.

Cooperation will be established with a Norwegian partner – InErgeo AS which will provide us with  know-how concerning green technological solutions for platforms in marinas and reducing the environmental impact of marinas.

Summary of project results

The implementation of the project was to increase the company''s competitiveness. By developing and implementing innovative solutions that would increase the accessibility of ports, the company''s offer became more competitive in relation to the offers of other service providers on the market. An important role in this respect was played by the modernization of existing infrastructure such as piers or a boatyard, and the purchase of modern yachts.

In addition, the implementation of the project was to contribute to socio-economic development by implementing the most innovative ecological solutions. The solutions used in the project, including: a pump for collecting waste and a solar power plant, will contribute to increased protection of the natural environment and climate.

Another challenge that the project was to meet was the protection of water and the shoreline of the lake. By using a pressure installation system, the phenomenon of sedimentation is eliminated in the space around the jetties and the overgrowth of the lake surface is prevented. In turn, thanks to the use of the Multifunctional Sailors'' Service Platform, it became possible to protect the lake''s shoreline, because integrated services for sailors were moved from the lake shore to its area.

The project also responded to the need to improve the service of port infrastructure, yachts and automate repetitive tasks. The answer to this problem was the use of IT software, which also allowed for the sale of packaged services. IT software also allowed for monitoring revenues, media consumption and the automation of the customer service process.

The following activities were implemented as part of the project:

- The jetties and accompanying infrastructure were modernized in the ports in Stare Sady and Mikołajki, and an innovative port basin aeration system was installed there,

- The shipyard in Stawek was renovated and equipped,

- A solar power plant was installed on the roof of the shipyard in Stawek,

- A Multifunctional Sailors'' Service Platform was purchased along with the accompanying infrastructure,

- 4 yachts were purchased,

- Software for port service was purchased and implemented,

- Research was carried out on the development of a pressure installation system with diffusers in order to eliminate the phenomenon of sedimentation and overgrowing of the lake shores,

- Key know-how and technical knowledge in the field of environmental and pro-ecological solutions in port areas were purchased from the project partner.

The following results were achieved:

- 1 new job created,

- Annual CO2 emissions reduced by 14.33 tons,

- Annual electricity consumption reduced by 0.03 GWh

- Annual turnover increased by 5.00%

- Operating profits increased net by 3.00%.

In addition, as a result of the project, 3 new innovative solutions were implemented in the company: a 40kW PV installation and a pump for removing waste were purchased and installed, a Multifunctional Sailors'' Service Platform was purchased, and a system of diffusers was used to aerate water in the port basin .

As part of the project, an innovative solution for forcing water flow in the area around the bottom of the lake was also developed.

As a result of the project implementation, the Beneficiary achieved the following results:

- 1 new job was created

A 36-year-old man was employed as a shipwright. The contract was concluded for an indefinite period on 01.04.2024

- Annual CO2 emissions were reduced by 14.33 tons

The indicator was calculated based on the average annual savings of final energy produced in a conventional power plant, resulting from the production of own energy using a new RES installation. Taking into account the parameters of the photovoltaic installation, it was assumed that it is able to produce energy in the amount of 38,400 kWh/year,

- Annual electricity consumption was reduced by 0.03 GWh

The indicator was calculated based on the estimated amount of energy produced from the new RES installation (38,400 MWh)

- The company''s annual turnover was increased by 5.00%

2023 was taken into account as the year preceding the year of project completion and 2024 as the target year for achieving the estimated value of the indicator. In the application for support, it was assumed that the nominal value of the annual increase in annual turnover would amount to PLN 2,660.21 thousand. However, taking into account the actual increase in turnover in the years 2022 - 2023, this value should be corrected to PLN 2,000.00 thousand. The company is developing very dynamically and is recording year-on-year increases in turnover, and as a result, the volume increase in revenues will show lower percentage values year-on-year. The increase in turnover in 2023 compared to 2022 amounted to approximately 5%. The same increase is expected in subsequent years.

- Net operating profits increased by 3.00%.

The value of the "Estimated annual increase in net operating profits" indicator consists not only of the profit generated, but also of, among others: subsidies, financial costs and revenues, depreciation. The purchase of fixed assets as part of the project will increase depreciation by over PLN 250 thousand, which will reduce net profit. In addition, the value of this indicator will be affected by the announced increases in wages and energy prices, while the high level of financial costs will remain until the end of next year.

The project partner, InErgeo, provided consulting services, including technological solutions for environmental issues for platforms in the port, analysis of optimal solutions for platform relocation, and knowledge in the field of port management optimization, lean management and optimization of future operating costs.

Summary of bilateral results

The Beneficiary remained in constant contact with the Partner throughout the project implementation period. On July 1, 2024, the project partner visited the Beneficiary to familiarize themselves with the effects of the project and the status of its implementation. During the meeting, representatives of the Amax Group introduced the Partner to the ongoing development process of Mikołajki and the company''s activities. The state of the natural environment of the lakes in this area and the most important environmental challenges were discussed. During the meeting, the issue of water quality was also discussed in the context of the implementation of modern boats, closed toilet systems and the ban on discharging sewage into the lakes. The importance of sustainable development of Mikołajki due to the sensitive aquatic ecosystem in the Masurian lakes was also emphasized. The project partner, i.e. InErgeo, provided consulting services regarding, among others, technological solutions in environmental issues for platforms in the port, analysis of optimal solutions for platform relocation, and knowledge in the field of port management optimization, lean management and optimization of future operating costs. The project Partner stated that, because it was mainly involved in the last part of the project, the value of the service it provided was reduced by 16.70% to PLN 100,000. The Beneficiary will continue contacts with the project partner, but there are no specific plans for further cooperation.
