Description
The project aims at the modernisation of the production line for drying and processing of timber at the FOR-Drew sawmill which offers products made of large-size certified timber, such as: timber structural elements, sawn timber and railway sleepers. The project involves: energy modernisation of the production hall, modernisation of the timber processing line, installation of a modernised two-chamber timber drying facility and a modern varnishing chamber, purchase of a biomass boiler station and installation of 50 kW photovoltaic panels to meet the company’s energy needs.
The timber processing method we currently employ is very energy and time consuming, and the process of manufacturing wooden doors and other lumber products is not automated and relies heavily on human manual labour. The new production line will make it possible to automate the entire timber handling process - from its arrival at the facility to the sale of the finished product. The application of modern technological solutions will improve work safety and comfort, as well as the quality of manufactured products (dimensional repeatability which will translate into a reduced amount of waste generated during production), and their production time. The innovations will bring about reduced emissions of gaseous pollutants into the atmosphere and reduced dust and noise emissions. As a result of the project implementation, we will reduce annual electricity consumption by 0.16 GWh and annual CO2 emissions by 1,000 tons.
