Description

Rabugino offers technical components for the automotive and household appliances industries, and produces shopping trolleys. Under the project we intend to market environmentally friendly shopping trolleys labelled TWINST (in two versions: TWINST Basket and TWINST Bag). Based on our in-house technology, the basket in the TWINST Basket trolley will be produced with an innovative polymer mix made in at least 60% of plastic from the purification of sea/ocean waters, and the remaining part will come from consumer recycled material.

Along with the development of the above-mentioned polymer formula, works on the new technology will include the development of the product technology concept; the development and production of a prototype; strength, load and aging tests; and the development of technical documentation for the product. Moreover, Rabugino plant’s fire protection infrastructure will be expanded by constructing an underground fire-fighting tank of the volume of 306 m3, and production equipment will be purchased, i.e. a 1300T injection molding machine and a 3-axis Cartesian robot.

The implementation of the project will reduce CO2 emissions by 102.35 tons yearly.

Summary of project results

The challenge was to implement 2 innovative, environmentally friendly products into the production activity of Rabugino Sp. z o.o.: shopping trolleys under the name TWINST (in two varieties - TWINST Basket and TWINST Bag). The production of the TWINST Basket trolley basket uses plastic mainly from the cleaning of seas and oceans. The waste fished out of the water, subjected to regranulation, will be delivered to Rabugino by an external, certified supplier, where an innovative mixture will be prepared, developed in the course of work on the technology, consisting of at least 60% of this raw material, the remaining percentage of polypropylene plastics and a number of additives (glass fiber reinforcements, UV stabilizer, etc.). In addition to developing the above formulation, the Company developed a technological concept for the product, developed and manufactured a prototype and conducted strength, load and ageing tests, prepared technical documentation enabling the implementation of the product into production. The TWINST Bag trolley, on the other hand, does not have a basket – instead, the consumer can hang 2 reusable bags on special handles. The design of the TWINST Bag trolley is to encourage the user to use their own bags – in this way, they will automatically be involved in respecting the “less waste” philosophy.

The project included 2 tasks:

TASK 2

As part of the task:

a) a 3-axis Cartesian robot was purchased, delivered and installed

On 27.01.2023, an announcement was published regarding the purchase, delivery and installation of a 3-axis Cartesian robot.

On 10.02.2023, the contractor was selected, on 17.02.2023, an agreement was signed with the contractor (amended on 04.08.2023).

On 30.09.2023, the robot was accepted, during which the implementation of the full scope of the order was confirmed.

On 11.12.2023, the last payment was made under the order, completing the financial implementation of the order.

30.09.2023, the injection molding machine was accepted, during which the implementation of the full scope of the order was confirmed.

21.11.2023, the last payment was made under the order, completing the financial implementation of the order.

b) an injection molding machine was purchased, delivered, installed and commissioned.

04.07.2022, an announcement was published regarding the purchase, delivery, installation and start-up of the injection molding machine.

26.08.2022, the contractor was selected, 31.08.2022, an agreement was signed with the contractor (amended on 12.01.2023 and 04.08.2023).

The following activities were carried out as part of the communication plan:

a) Meeting with the media to launch the project

On 07.06.2022, an invitation was sent to the editorial offices of the local press - i.e. operating in the district or neighboring districts such as Żyrardów, Pruszków or Sochaczew, as well as to the provincial press.

At the same time, we contacted individual editorial offices by phone, encouraging them to take part in the event. The conference on 14.06.2022 was attended by 3 editorial offices: Gazeta Bogoria, Gazeta i portal e-Sochaczew, Editorial Office Wiadomości Handlowe.

The project assumptions were presented at the meeting, and the innovative and ecological dimension of the project was emphasized in particular, as well as the participation of EEA and Norwegian Funds in financing the project.

b) Meeting with the media at the end of the project

On 27.06.2024, an invitation was sent to the editorial offices of the local press - i.e. operating in the district or neighboring districts such as Żyrardów or Sochaczew, as well as to the provincial press.

At the same time, we contacted individual editorial offices by phone and via social media (Linked-In) encouraging them to take part in the event.

The conference on 03.07.2023 was attended by 4 editorial offices: Gazeta i portal e-Sochaczew, Gazeta Bogoria, Portal Grodzisknews.pl, Editorial Office Wiadomości Handlowe.

The project results were presented at the meeting, and the innovative and ecological dimension of the project was once again emphasized, as well as the participation of EEA and Norwegian Funds in financing the project.

A subpage has been created on the website http://rabugino.com/ dedicated to the project in Polish and English. The created subpage publishes information about the project, progress of implementation, achievements in its implementation, project results, photos, contact information and reference to the Program and the Norwegian and EEA Funds.

We have placed an information poster containing information about support from the Norwegian and EEA Funds in a publicly accessible place in the plant. We regularly publish information on the Company''s social media (Rabugino Facebook and the Rabtrolley brand, and Linked-in) about the trolleys co-financed from the Norwegian Funds (there was also information about the support received and the appropriate logo). We placed an information board in accordance with the requirements of the Communication and Visual Identification Manual at the project implementation site.

As part of the project, Rabugino Sp. z o.o. implemented a technology for the production of innovative, environmentally friendly shopping carts called TWINST in two varieties:

a) TWINST Basket: https://www.rabtrolley.com/pl/produkt/twinst-basket-pl/

b) TWINST Bag: https://www.rabtrolley.com/pl/produkt/twinst-bag-pl/.

100% of the values of the indicators "Number of innovative solutions used in the enterprise as a result of the project (new for the enterprise)" and "Number of innovative products (goods or services) introduced to the market (commercialized) as a result of the project" were achieved.

The values of the indicators "Estimated annual increase in annual turnover" and "Estimated annual increase in net operating profits" estimated for 2024 are not at risk and will be achieved.

Due to significantly lower sales of TWINST trolleys in the first half of 2024 than expected at the application writing stage (and consequently lower sales forecast for the entire year 2024), the value of the indicator "Estimated reduction in annual CO2 emissions" estimated for 2024 has decreased (because the value of the aforementioned indicator is directly proportional to the number of trolleys produced and sold).

The following degree of implementation of the assumed indicators was achieved:

a) Number of innovative solutions used in the enterprise as a result of the project (new for the enterprise) - 100%;

b) Number of innovative products (goods or services) introduced to the market (commercialized) as a result of the project - 100%;

c) Estimated reduction in annual CO2 emissions - 23.71%;

d) Estimated annual increase in annual turnover: 100%;

e) Estimated annual increase in net operating profits: 100%.

The recipients of the project''s product innovations, i.e. the TWINST Bag and TWINST Basket shopping trolleys, are retail stores, especially smaller and medium-sized stores (including the increasingly popular convenience stores and discount stores). Aesthetic, environmentally friendly, functional, compact, with high utility values, taking up little space when stored, shopping trolleys are a commodity sought after and appreciated by the market.

Information on the projects funded by the EEA and Norway Grants is provided by the Programme and Fund Operators in the Beneficiary States, who are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of this information.
