Description

Wemeco specializes in lot manufacturing of metal products for industry and road infrastructure, such as hatches, manholes or steps and stairs. Under the project we will implement an original product innovation resulting from our own R&D work - wemDeck ISD hatch to be used in roads and their shoulders, and parking areas. The innovative technological solutions that were applied in this new type of the overrun hatch apply to the supporting structure and the locking system. These will allow a significant reduction of the hatch weight, its 100% tightness, increased safety of unlocking the hatch cover, and the possibility of unlocking by a user in the standing position. The new solutions have been tested in laboratories of two universities in Wrocław.

The product is targeted at European customers implementing projects in the lines of construction, road and sewage infrastructures, and untypical underground construction.

Our project covers the purchase of machines which will modernize the existing production line to enable the implementation of the new product: a laser fiber cutter and a powder coating line. We have conducted an energy audit for these machines, which shows that they will bring about a yearly reduction of electricity consumption of 0,52 GWh, which translates into lowering the plant’s energy demand by 52,04 %. CO2 emission will be reduced by 424 tons per year.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to strengthen the competitiveness and innovativeness of Wemeco Poland by applying environmentally friendly technological solutions at the enterprise level in terms of increasing energy efficiency and reducing pollutant emissions.

As a result of the project implementation, the Beneficiary started the production and sale of a completely new product - the wemDeck ISD hatch.

The purchased fixed assets (laser cutting machine and powder coating line) enabled the use of environmentally friendly technological solutions, thanks to which energy efficiency increased and pollutant emissions were reduced.

The method of operation of the new painting and laser cutting technology is based on process automation. The most important factor determining the innovativeness of the purchased technology is modernity, ease of use, precision and huge savings in terms of both electricity and service costs.

As a result of the project, WEMECO has reduced its annual energy consumption by 0.52 GWh, which translates into a reduction in annual CO2 emissions by 2413,42 tons.

As a result of the project, the company''s innovativeness increased through the implementation of a product innovation in the form of a significantly improved product of its own design - the wemDeck ISD hatch.

The new Wemeco product responds to the needs of the market, where dense urban development and the decreasing amount of available land for investment mean that many design tasks will increasingly have to be solved in the underground space. Access to underground facilities, which may include control rooms, server rooms or access to devices, is provided by access hatches designed and manufactured by Wemeco Poland under the wemDeck brand. The hatches are installed in places where access to underground infrastructure should not be an obstacle for the surroundings. Thanks to the possibility of filling the hatch with decorative stone, asphalt, cobblestone or greenery, the hatches do not disturb the architectural order and provide effective access to necessary devices or installations hidden under the ground surface.

The company''s expanded offer and the launch of a completely new production process have increased WEMECO POLAND''s operating profits by 40%.
