Description

The serious global air pollution resulted in a very strong tendency in Europe to limit the use of fossil fuel and promote heating systems that use renewable resources, such as biomass. The Protech project supports this trend by developing a new condensing pellet boiler with a capacity of 140 kW, the largest of the pellet boilers we produce. The new product will be intended to heat large buildings (such as schools, hospitals or supermarkets), and it will offer uniquely high energy efficiency (ca. 104%), compliant with the ECODESIGN EU directive.

The project also covers R&D work to develop a globally innovative process of hybrid welding to be used in the boiler production process, which will also interoperate with the new robotisation process. To fuel these innovations we will install a 100 kWh solar power plant and compressors that will jointly reduce our energy consumption by 37,93 GWh per year. CO2 emissions will be reduced by significant 290,2 tons yearly. In addition, the project implementation will improve working conditions of our employees by reducing toxic welding fumes and making the air much cleaner in the production hall, plus it will bring about time and material savings in electrode wire and shield gas.

To achieve that we are planning to purchase: development services, certification services, a spray painting robot, large and small elements welding robots, a laser fibre cutting machine, a lathe, a press brake, and an automatic warehouse for tubes and profiles.

Summary of project results

The project was implemented through the following activities:

1. development and implementation of a product innovation - a condensing pellet boiler 140 kW

2. robotization of the welding process in the production of pellet boilers along with the development and implementation of process innovation in the form of hybrid welding technology,

3. implementation of the ecological alternatives to energy-saving and low-emission functioning of the company.

The main goal of the project was to improve the competitiveness of PROTECH through implementation product and process innovations, that will allow further pro-ecological functioning of the company in various areas of activities.

The investment was based on the following assumptions:

- development of the pellet boilers product group, due to clear tendency in all European countries towards the transition to renewable energy sources

- ensuring an appropriate level of economic and ecological efficiency of production – necessary due to the need to protect the environment, safety and health conditions for employees and the additional profitability of production available.

- ensuring an appropriate level of economic and ecological efficiency of the enterprise functioning, which will guarantee lower costs and high level of environmental protection.

The main project results include:

- increasing the company''s innovativeness by carrying out R&D work aimed at developing product innovation - condensing pellet boiler with a power of 140 kW,

- increasing the company''s innovativeness through the development and implementation of process innovation in the form of hybrid welding technology for the production of pellet boilers and robotic MAG welding technology,

- achieving ecological goals such as: better waste management, higher energy efficiency, reducing emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, more efficient material economy, resulting from:

- implementation of energy-saving and pro-ecological production technologies (hybrid welding, robotic MAG welding, laser cutting, robotic spray painting,turning, bending)

- implementation of energy-saving technologies for the operation of the enterprise and production processes (photovoltaics, compressors)

- optimization of production economics (optimization of raw material consumption, tool and working time consumption),

- supplying the company with modern health and safety equipment, guaranteeing a high level of work safety.

Carrying out this project contributed to the creation of conditions for the long-term development of the company, including the development of production innovations, ensuring high quality and efficiency of the production process, in particular in the aspect of implementing product and process innovations. Undertaken project activities also ensure the organization of production processes, with particular emphasis on

natural environment protection. An important result of the project is ensuring a high level of employee comfort and safety. Purchase of highly automated and robotic production devices allowed for ensuring work safety, reducing monotonous activities, burdening the musculoskeletal system, especially the most burdensome job positions and ensuring competence development in the field of modern technologies.

The estimated result indicators will be achieved and maintained over the durability period.
