Description

FORENDA operates in the wood processing industry. The project objective is to introduce a new process of vacuum drying of wood, which will help us achieve higher quality of wood products and to expand our customer base beyond the construction industry, targeting manufacturers of furniture and finishing components. In addition, we plan to launch pellet production in response to the high market interest in this product, resulting from the common replacement of furnaces with more environmentally friendly ones. Not all sawmill companies can produce pellets, as a high level of quality and purity of the raw material - i.e. sawdust - must be maintained. Therefore, we will cooperate with an accredited laboratory where our raw material will be tested on a regular basis.

Introduction of the pellet production process will also serve to utilise our main waste product, i.e. sawdust. Thanks to the project implementation we will reuse as much as 7,500 tons of sawdust per year. The environmental effect will be enhanced by the installation of photovoltaic panels, which will reduce the demand for electricity from conventional sources and lower the company’s CO2 emissions by 42.42 tons a year.

Under the project FORENDA will build a production and storage hall, and purchase pellet production line, vacuum dryer and wood convection dryer, band saw machine, telescopic loader and photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 120 kW.

Summary of project results

The implementation of the project had a significant impact on the company''s competitiveness and responded to the client''s needs, which was to introduce an ecological fuel for combustion, such as pellets, to the local market. Due to the subsidy received, the Beneficiary purchased a new technological line for pellet production and implemented the project of building a production and warehouse hall in which the entire production process is located. The investment was important and necessary due to the fact that the Beneficiary has raw material for the production of pellets, which is waste from sawmill production. In this way, we achieved two goals at once, i.e. we use the waste generated in the plant, thus eliminating the need to incur the costs of its management and at the same time responding to the market demand for the availability of pellets, thus creating another source of sales revenue for the company.

The implementation of the project, i.e. launching pellet production through the purchase of a technological line with innovative solutions (EN Plus A1, DIN Plus A1 product certification) and the construction of a production and storage hall, 100% responded to the needs and further diversification of the business, which increased operational safety, and thus thus impacted the company''s competitiveness. Without planned investments, further development of the company would be impossible.

The project achieved:

- the number of innovative processes used in the enterprise as a result of the project (new for the enterprise) - 2

- the number of innovative technologies used in the enterprise as a result of the project (new for the enterprise) – 1

- number of people employed under the project: 7, including 2 women and 5 men.
