Summary of project results
The project was created in response to the urgent need to support the development of EQ competencies among young people, which are crucial in the job market. According to data from "The Future of Jobs Report 2020" by WEF, skills related to emotional intelligence, such as empathy and teamwork, are listed as among the most important future skills. Additionally, the OECD report "Skills for Social Progress: The Power of Social and Emotional Skills" emphasizes that emotional competencies are key to success in both professional and personal life. A high level of emotional intelligence allows for better coping with challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work, and stressful life situations. Given the dramatic mental health situation and low awareness of the role of EQ, this project was not only important but also urgent.
The main goal of the EQPower - PowerSkills project was to create an online diagnostic tool for assessing EQ skills in young people aged 18 to 25. Upon completion of the assessment, the user receives a developmental report. Additionally, the project aimed to provide a book of best practices in diagnosing and developing EQ skills in young people in Poland, Norway, Iceland, and other European countries. The main goal of the best practices handbook was to support educators, trainers, career advisors, and psychologists working with young people in developing EQ skills in both individual and group settings.
Data obtained from the survey of many individuals, currently around 200, provide the basis for discussions on the development of EQ as a key competency at various stages of education. The project has established partnerships with three universities, ensuring a large number of participants in the study and providing valuable data. In addition to diagnosis, an important element of the project is the developmental report and best practices handbook, which enable both individual and group work on EQ skill development.
