Summary of project results

The project aimed to continue the cooperation started during the previous edition of the Education Programme 2019 and to establish cooperation with new institutions from the Donor States in the field of academic exchange of students and employees in both directions.

Ultimately, cooperation was carried out with seven institutions from Norway and Iceland (6 universities and 1 company) with a total of 21 participant mobilities, that were carried out: including 8 long-term student mobility (6 studies, 2 internships) and 13 short-term staff mobility (9 mobility from our institution, 4 incoming visits). Staff mobilities took place for training (8 mobilities) and teaching (5 mobilities) purposes. The exchange in this respect also concerned the job shadowing, presentation of the sending institution and the participant’s scientific achievements, familiarization with their main thematic areas and target groups. It also concerned the identification of possibilities for further cooperation (teaching, scientific, research) of both institutions within the framework of educational and scientific programs, the organization of joint courses, the possibility of conducting workshops for teachers and student internships. In addition, knowledge about the practices, policies and system of foreign education was expanded, competences related to the participants’ professional profiles were improved, awareness of social, linguistic and cultural diversity increased, opportunities for professional development, motivation and satisfaction with everyday work and learning increased.

Participation in the project primarily improved the educational and professional qualifications of the participants, expanded their knowledge in the field of scientific interests, and developed personal and language skills. New possibilities of cooperation were established and new contacts strengthened bilateral relations between Poland and the Donor States in the field of education. New solutions are planned, based on the experience of host institutions (e.g. in terms of a new educational offer and better promotion). Good practices in institutional activities related to internationalization and the lifelong learning program were learned. Planning for further activities has started, including further visits and the development of common themes, research programmes, continued academic exchanges within other available programs and the exchange of good practices. The approach of foreign institutions to meeting contemporary expectations of universities in the field of: sustainable development and sustainable development goals, their involvement in green growth and changes/adaptations in university strategies and management was learned. Most partner institutions from the completed Education Programme 2019 project and earlier projects continued cooperation in the described project, which is also the result of many years of conversations and good development of relations.

Summary of bilateral results

The project was aimed at getting acquainted with the Sending Institutions and the Receiving Institutions, learning about their main areas of activity and target groups, implementing mobility (e.g. studies / internships / teaching / training) and planning further teaching / research / scientific visits in order to share knowledge, participants’ experiences and skills in a given field, which brought many benefits and plans for the future. Mutual opportunities were identified and new ideas were developed for the implementation of joint activities and projects, courses and workshops, as well as the possibility of participating in subsequent international programs. Thanks to promotional activities, students and staff participants from the Silesian University of Technology began to notice the opportunities offered by the program and participation in activities carried out with institutions from the Donor States.
