Description
The main goal of the Edu4QI project is to develop and verify a modular postgraduate education program for specialists in contemporary quality improvement concepts. The modular program will enable flexible adjustment of the university''s educational offer to the expectations of a wide group of beneficiaries - graduates of first and second degree studies of various faculties in technical and social sciences. A complementary goal is to develop recommendations for the improvement of the postgraduate education process in relation to the educational and supporting processes, including administrative ones. There is a great demand on the labor market for specialists in the field of quality and process improvement. This is indicated by studies prepared by employment agencies and associations of companies in Poland and Norway. In February 2021, one of the Polish HR portals - pracuj.pl - indicated the demand for 1,066 quality specialists in various organizations. In 2018 Tri-City Interizon Cluster signaled that the search time for a quality specialist who would meet their conditions was over 1 year. The results of the project will be created by partner teams of academic teachers - from the University of Stavanger in Norway (4 people) and the Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland (5 people). In addition practitioners from organizations cooperating with partners are expected to participate. The course validation is planned for 2 groups of 12 students, selected by each of the partners from among the 1st and 2nd degree graduates. The main effect of the project will be a modular educational program tailored to the needs of partners, enabling its implementation in various modes - full postgraduate courses, intensive courses and accelerated training. An additional, jointly developed result ensuring the sustainability of the effects will be a set of guidelines for the organization of such initiatives, based on the Lean Management concept and models of excellence.
Summary of project results
According to the project, the main result of the activities undertaken was the development and testing of a modular educational program enabling the implementation of full postgraduate studies, intensive courses and accelerated training in the field of quality management and improvement. The introduced program is characterized by a modular approach, the flexibility of which in the selection of materials met the expectations of the participants of the pilot training, which is confirmed by the positive results of the survey.
The introduced program is characterized by a modular approach, the flexibility of which in the selection of materials met the expectations of the participants of the pilot training, which is confirmed by the positive results of the survey. These results are located in the appropriate directory on the MS Teams platform. The implemented solutions will be used at partner universities.
Due to the fact that the project ended on November 30, 2023, in accordance with the regulations at both partner universities, the formal submission of the educational program verified as a result of the testing phase along with a complete set of educational materials as an open educational offer will take place after receiving the opinion of the relevant bodies at both universities ( program committees, Faculty Council, Senate) in the summer semester 2023/2024. However, representatives of both teams continue to consult with cooperating representatives as part of their teaching duties (e.g. classes on subjects taught at the Gdańsk University of Technology: "Quality Management", Total Quality Management", "Quality Engineering", "Normative management systems", etc.). enterprises use the results developed in the Project. All activities included in budget were implemented. These include 4 project meetings (2 at UiS and 2 at PG), 3 dissemination events (2 at PG and 1 at UiS), a course pilot and a number of regularly held online meetings via MS Teams.
he results developed under RPI 2 will be used in the implementation of projects in university units represented by the Partners. They will also be presented in the near future to the appropriate units supporting management at both universities (e.g. at GUT Center for Strategic Analysis) as improvement suggestions regarding newly undertaken educational initiatives. Project coordinator prof. Piotr Grudowski, as a representative of the Faculty of Management and Economics as part of the ENHANCE initiative (https://enhanceuniversity.eu/) bringing together 10 leading technical universities in Europe, will submit these proposals at the events announced for 2024 and 2025 as an innovative contribution to the development of the European higher education system.
Summary of bilateral results
Having institutions from Donor States as part of our project has brought numerous benefits and has definitely enriched our cooperation. The main bilateral results are clear and the cooperation has contributed to a significant increase in knowledge and understanding of the issue. UiS provided our cooperation with a unique methodological perspective, experience and resources that significantly enriched our approach to the implementation of the project, including a new perspective on the approach to the education of quality specialists in our country. Bilateral cooperation allowed not only to achieve the set goals, but also to develop broader effects. Thanks to the open, unrestricted exchange of knowledge and best practices with our Norwegian partners, we have increased the effectiveness of our activities and improved our design competences. As a result, our partnership, apart from a fully satisfactory level of implementation of the adopted intentions, has created a solid basis for long-term cooperation, leaving a lasting impact on our joint future projects. The partnership with the University of Stavanger in Norway allowed us to take full advantage of the diversity of competences, skills and experiences. We plan to continue this bilateral cooperation, seeing it not only as a source of specific benefits in the form of innovative solutions in the area of training specialist staff and the functioning of higher education institutions, but also as an opportunity to further strengthen international ties and exchange best practices in the long term. The high probability associated with this last declaration is confirmed by numerous contacts between our two teams after the end of the project on November 30, 2023 (several e-mails and meetings on the MSTeams platform) devoted to the prospects for continuing bilateral cooperation under various project initiatives, in relation to, among others, the results of the Edu4QI project.
