Description

This project is a unique initiative to support the home-based education sector. The aim is to improve the quality of the teaching process by facilitating the development of good school-pupil-parent relationships, and by strengthening the skills of those who oversee a child’s education outside school. The joint activities of experienced didactics, psychologists and educators will contribute to this by providing a compendium of knowledge and best practices for school leaders in Poland and by creating a system for family tutoring in home education with multidimensional pedagogical and psychological support. As such, the project aims to improve access to quality education and strengthen the skills of staff.

The direct beneficiaries of the project are teachers and administrators of educational institutions and the parents of children in home education. The indirect beneficiaries are the children and young people that attend home schooling. The project will improve the organisation and management of schools, while at the same time strengthening the professional skills of teachers to prepare them for new challenges (preparing individual examinations). Meetings and mobility will enable cooperation between educational institutions and the exchange of best practice between partners. The proposed pedagogical innovations (tutoring, interdisciplinary education, development of a sense of performance) will both support the pupils in their home education and support the teachers in their regular classroom work. Ideas for educational projects published in the Interdisciplinarity Inspirator will enrich the knowledge base and inspire teachers, students and parents. The project aims at the inclusion of disadvantaged groups by giving children access to quality education without educational exclusion. Home-based education can be a tool to counteract the exclusion of children in need of long-term treatment or children in need of special education.

Summary of project results

The project was a unique initiative to support the homeschooling sector (ED), where an increasing number of students are educated in Poland every year. Many of them are children from socially vulnerable groups. Its goal is to improve the quality of the educational process by facilitating the building of strong relationships between school-student-parent and enhancing the competencies of those responsible for overseeing a child''s education outside of school - parents, who effectively join the education workforce in this process. The collaborative efforts of experienced educators, psychologists, and educators (18 individuals) contributed to the creation of a knowledge compendium - 4 ebooks and video training for parents.

The following results were implemented in the project: IO 1 "Information for schools Krok 0" in the form of an e-book, IO 2 "Video Training" in the form of video files, IO 3 "Interdisciplinary Inspirer" in the form of an e-book, IO 4 "Home Phrasebook" in the form of an e-book , IO 5 "Inspired Stories" in e-book form. The first result is intended for use by schools and educational professionals, as well as for parents interested in learning about the formalities associated with a child''s transition to home education. The remaining project results (RPI 2-5) are addressed to parents involved in or interested in home education, but during the project evaluation it was noticed that people professionally involved in education are also interested in them.

Directors and teachers of public and private schools have access to a compendium of knowledge and tips on how to proceed to make the process of cooperation with families in home education as little burdensome as possible for the staff and at the same time effective.
Parents of children in Home Education or parents considering switching to Home Education will find in our results not only basic information about home education in Poland, but also many inspiring stories of other families in Home Education, which will be great support after making the decision to switch to Home Education.
Children in home education are also beneficiaries of this project, thanks to our developed materials, their home education will be less stressful thanks to the support of both the school institution and parents who are better prepared for the challenge.

The materials are published on the project website and promoted in social media by the promoter and project partners.

The materials translated into English as part of the project can be used by institutions and families in home education in Iceland.

Summary of bilateral results

The collaboration with the Icelandic educational company Asgardur proved to be crucial for the project due to their extensive experience in integrating teaching content on the innovative Learncove platform. Thanks to this, the Polish project participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with this platform and gained access to it. Asgardur contributed to enriching the project through their knowledge and technological expertise, enabling the better utilization of modern educational tools. Additionally, thanks to the involvement of the Icelandic partner, Polish participants and homeschooling families had the opportunity to explore a completely new cultural, social, and educational context in which Icelandic homeschooling families operate on a daily basis. During the project, close social bonds were formed between the Polish team and the Icelandic partner. These relationships transcended the purely professional sphere and evolved into friendships that continue to this day. Due to these successful interactions, further joint activities are already planned, which will be a continuation of the fruitful collaboration and exchange of ideas between the Polish and Icelandic sides.
