Description

The planned project is a 3-day cycle of intensive training in soft skills: the objective is to develop negotiation and communication skills (taking into account the multicultural environment and cross cultural communication) and to be able to implement the newly acquired skills in professional work with students. The training will be conducted in English by 2 top skilled trainers with many years of experience in conducting courses and trainings for employees of universities, schools, enterprises and business sector, representing the consulting and training company ZOPA ehf., based in Hafnarfjordur (Iceland). Participants: the training will be offered to university staff of different levels and positions, involved in teaching and counselling processes dedicated to students. Potentially this means persons interested in self-development and qualifications improvement representing: staff professionally involved in teaching, education, training of students of all cycles of studies (including post-diploma programmes and continuing education) offered by the SUT to stakeholders coming from different age, social and environmental groups (professors, PhDs, assistants); non-academic staff working with students and graduates on a daily basis (e.g. service and counselling in the Student Services Office, Career Office, Disability Office etc.); academic and administrative managers of the university; doctoral students. An increase of use of these skills should be able to result in broader professional contacts, improved working conditions and working atmosphere in project or unit teams (national and international), better results in periodic evaluation of staff and in surveys conducted by students and other stakeholders.

Summary of project results

Results are satisfactory, still not as expected. Fewer participants took part in the training the it was planned.
