Description
The Norwegian Orienteering Federation has invaluable experience in social integration through sport. The federation''s vision is "Orienteering for all". The federation runs 3 main projects aimed at social inclusion- people with disabilities, national minorities and children and young people from low-income families.
Using the partner''s experience, the applicant will carry out an intensive training, during which participants will learn the basics of orienteering and how to use orienteering as a tool for social inclusion - priority area "inclusive education".
The target group of the intensive training will be 30 sport coaches from the Pomeranian Voivodeship working for children and youth socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion (due to disability, origin from dysfunctional families, including families with a low material status, chronic diseases, Asperger syndrome, Autism spectrum, or origin from ethnic or religious minorities, immigrant communities). Working for socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion children and youth was the only necessary condition during the recruitment process (open recruitment - equal opportunities, access for all interested parties).
Most of the recruited beneficiaries of the training work in primary or secondary schools (21 physical education teachers - working on a daily basis with children and young people in the formal education sector). The other members of the target group of the training are sports coaches working with children and young people in the framework of activities in sports clubs, private enterprises, whose main activity is teaching various sports - the non-formal education sector.
Summary of project results
A 5-day in-service training course was organized for those working on behalf of children and young people with special needs, socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion, as well as promoting healthy lifestyles, physical activity, fair play principles among children and young people, and supporting active social integration using sports. 30 sports trainers were trained. Participants in the training improved their competence in new methods of social inclusion of children and young people with disabilities, in particular, the basic principles of para-orienteering.
Summary of bilateral results
The training, in accordance with the grant application, was conducted by a Norwegian trainer - Lone Karin Brochmann - an expert on behalf of the Norwegian Federation of Orienteering (Norsk Orienteering), a specialist in para-orienteering. The cooperation went smoothly, and the parties are planning further joint project implementation.
