The project is part of the applicant''s long-term strategy aimed at building a valuable educational offer, based on professional staff, modern education methods and lasting international partnerships.
The implementation of the project results from the need to explore innovative methods, tools and strategies for improving the quality of education which effectively influences the position of the institution on the national and international arena. This goal will be achieved through job shadowing, workshops, discussion panels, case studies. Project participants are managers, trainers and learning designers whose activities are aimed directly at academic teachers in terms of strategic planning of the support and competence development. The long-term result of the project will be the maintenance of institutional cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations with NTNU Trondheim. The conclusions and experiences from the visit will be taken into account in the implementation of tasks under the Research University Initiative, as well as in increasing the level of the educational offer through the development of staff and exchange of experiences, comparing the process of building and implementing strategies to improve the quality of education at each stage. Long-term benefits will extend to academics who may benefit from modernized professional development programs.
Summary of project results
During the visit NTNU run for AGH a number of meetings workshops, presentations and job shadowing options according to the agenda: STEM dydactics (Department of Maths, Electroengineering, Teachers'' Department), VR/ARXR in STEM education, multimedia in education, Open Educational Resources, Accessibility and Inclusion, building and dupporting Strategy of Quality in Education, development of transversal and digital competencies in teaching engineers, feedback and assessment in STEM, Teaching Excellence, teaching and learning in STEM subjects. AGH run 6 reflection sessions, took visual notes, kept the journal on its website and social media, worked on drafts of: quality standards and strategy, alternative forms of assessment - article and course, accessibility and inclusion - course, competence development, OER. After the visit CeL AGH and NTNU exchanged documents and good practices (papers, presentations), summed up the project and run communication and dissemination activities, such as: publishing of articles, implementing of training courses (assessment and feedback - 12.05 and 07.06), workshops and presentations of the results of the visit and related topics with the focus on implementing solutuons from NTNU.
Summary of bilateral results
Together with CeL AGH, NTNU set the main goals and priorities, set the date of the visit, the partnership agreement and the schedule of meetings. The flow of documents, synchronous meetings, working on shared documents, and exchanging emails went smoothly. NTNU took it upon itself to organize the entire plan for the site visit: scheduled meetings with key units/persons, introduced them to the idea of the project, and supported them in the preparation of workshops/presentations. He also took care of the availability of rooms and the timing of activities with attention to movement between campus buildings, lunch and coffee breaks. In terms of content, all meetings and workshops were brilliantly prepared, CeL AGH did not have the feeling of random meetings or presentations - on the contrary, each person he met with provided a wealth of substantive knowledge, and was eager to discuss opportunities and threats when implementing similar solutions at AGH. NTNU provided a wealth of knowledge in the multi-faceted construction of education quality strategies by showing the entire process from the administrative side, the decision-makers, the executive bodies, and the instructors themselves. Looking at such a cross-section allowed participants from CeL AGH to make many valuable observations and reflections. In addition, participants took part in and previewed the work of teaching innovators and units responsible for supporting teachers'' professional development in the STEM context. They learned about many concrete examples and solutions, e.g., the CDIO framework for shaping the competencies of engineers, the implementation of the author''s PBL in one course, the use of VR, e-learning, digital tools, and many others. CeL AGH will pilot the implementation of some of these solutions in the new semester. After the visit, NTNU and CeL AGH stayed in touch, exchanged publications and presentations, summarized the project together and started working on a new one.
