Thanks to the implementation of the project, bilateral relations will be established between Polish and Icelandic schools in the field of education.

The project contributes to strengthening the human potential of the ZSA staff and expanding the specialist knowledge in Poland in the field of vocational education, career counseling and social care at the secondary school level.

A 3-day job-shadowing study visit will be organized for 5 people to Fisktækniskóli Íslands (Icelandic College of Fishery). The plan of the visit is to learn about the Icelandic model of education including: methodology of vocational education and career counseling, social care for the student, cooperation with employers and VET institutions.

Its elements will be transferred to the Polish education system. Moreover, the project participants will learn about the school''s different model of cooperation with external organizations and the culturally different way of organizing and ensuring the quality of the school''s performance.

The methodology used includes observation, workshop, elements of an accompanying internship and meetings with representatives of social institutions dealing with the care of the student.

Expected results: A plan to improve didactic and educational activities will be developed based on the acquired knowledge and experience. New solutions will be implemented in the area of ​​supporting students with special educational needs, social welfare, dual education, career counseling. Pedagogical Innovations in this field will be created and implemented. Recommendations and new ideas for other VET institutions in the region will be developed. The impact of the project will be reflected in the modernization and creation of new pedagogical innovations in the ZSA education offer.

 

Summary of project results

The project included a 3-day job-shadowing study visit for 5 people to Fisktækniskóli Íslands (Icelandic College of Fisheries). Thanks to the visit, the participants learned about the Icelandic education model, including: the methodology of vocational education and guidance, student welfare, cooperation with employers and VET institutions. In addition, the project participants became familiar with the Icelandic model of school cooperation with external organizations and the culturally different way of organizing and ensuring the quality of school work. The methodology used included observation, workshop work, elements of an accompanying internship and meetings with representatives of social institutions involved in student welfare. The visit proceeded according to the previously approved schedule. An added value of the project was to conduct job shadowing sessions at workplaces where dual learning methods are applied (5 months of schooling/5 months at the workplace). Employees of the host institution were accompanied in their daily educational work. ZSA teachers took part in vocational classes, general education classes, career counseling. There were also 4 training meetings for all participants of the visit. Topics included: methods of dual teaching system, promotion of the VET sector, analysis of the Icelandic model of cooperation with employers, and Icelandic solutions for inclusive education. A meeting with a school psychologist was held, and the Icelandic system of psychological and pedagogical assistance was discussed. Classes were also conducted at the Innovation Center in Reykjavik, where the participants learned about the partner''s pedagogical innovations in practice. After the visit, a three-element evaluation of the project was conducted among the project participants, school management and the project partner.

Summary of bilateral results

The results of the questionnaires clearly indicated 100% satisfaction with the partnership of the visit participants. The level of trust between partners was assessed at the same percentage level. ZSA teachers in the questionnaires declared that participation in the project influenced the improvement of their competencies in the areas covered by the project (100% response). Thanks to participation in the study visit, professional development of the visit participants took place, new knowledge and practical skills were gained. Competencies of ZSA staff in the field of inclusive education, management and evaluation of educational activities were strengthened. Participants acquired practical professional skills, enriched their workshop on motivating students to learn. The methodology of effective career guidance was learned in practice. The study visit became the basis for building further initiatives, projects and educational and cultural programs of an international nature. During the visit, declarations were accepted to develop further joint projects extending the activities to other entities.
